IT IS ALL THE MAKING OF HUMAN MIND- WHETHER HEAVEN IS REAL OR A BELIEF I have already replied in another question in Yahoo- it is the body which dies and the human mind an abstract power remains undamaged. The mind which could be the link to the super power which created everything in the universe including universe. Hindu scriptures and epics are full of references to the extra-ordinary powers of the mind identified by our predecessors who were not having the technological support which we have today. HEAVEN IS A MENTAL YEARNING FOR A HUMAN BASED ON THE LIFE OF THE INDIVIDUAL How? A rich person's heaven should have something more than what that person enjoyed on earth -is it not/ If not- that cannot be heaven for that person. Similarly a poor person's heaven can be equal to the life of a rich man on earth- because the poor person cannot imagine beyond what he yearns. Hence heaven and hell are individual perceptions and stronger the belief - the stronger the chances of heaven becoming a true and a real place. I have gone through the link

I don't believe in a heaven and hell situation because that is saying that we will be judged after death and then rewarded or punished. I believe we live on for we are souls that live in human bodies and only the body dies at death. We will review this life and decide what more we wish to learn and we will then do it all over again. That's the short version of what I believe but it works for this Q.

One's consciousness is like a candle flame in the wind. Death extinguishes it, and it goes the same place as the candle flame forever. What's so difficult to comprehend about that? The physical body decays and is eaten by worms, etc. and is recycled. Your atoms may be part of someone else someday. Heaven and Hell aren't the only ideas about an afterlife, by any means. Hindus believe in reincarnation. Moslems may have 72 houris in their paradise, so it's much better than the bleak Christian version.

to say there would be empty space in the mind doesn't capture the true essence of it. Your mind ceases to exist at all. Without your brain being alive, the mind is a moot point.
Think of it this way (and this is taught in most psychology courses and neurology courses): The brain is the computer. The mind is the software.
If you unplug the computer and tear it apart, is the software still running? No. Is it even still there? Not if you take apart the hard drive and break it apart.
So there's not even 'nothingness'. The mind just ceases to be.

Our minds aren't blank. Its dead too. It doesn't think so we do no an eternity of nothing. The universe still exists though and will continue to do with or without our influence.
When we die we simply decompose and feed microorganisms and insects, unless you get cremated.

The lights go out. We cease to exist as an aware and complete-in-itself entity. The bubble bursts and our awareness is scattered into infinity.
That doesn't mean life will cease and the universe will collapse. Life goes on. Without you. And me. We just won't be aware of it any longer.
I hate to break it to you but there are no second chances. You have one life and that's it. Make the best of it. Don't act like you'll live forever. Love your loved ones while you can. What makes us think we get a second chance? Our laziness and self-indulgence, that's all.
And our self-importance. What a waste to not perpetuate such wonderfull beings as ourselves, huh?

You come alone in this world so you live it, you know nothing before you're born so you know nothing before you die, the only tool you're left is faith. you are free to use it as no one will give you a credible answer.
sorry

If you dead you dead and when eternity is over you still dead and if you find that hard to belief then hang on to your FARY TALE>
Some Birds stick there head in to ground because if they cant see the Hunter there can't be any real danger so be a bird brain and spread those fary tales.
