First of all, I too am a Christian and am somewhat upset about all the other questions and answers I find here. This site could be wonderful if it was used to stimulate a little research into Gods' Word. This is the purpose of my question and I would hope I can see more like it in the future. Where in the Bible does it indicate that time was moved backward? All other users, I don't mean to offend you. I just want my opportunity to inspire other Christians to get into the Bible.

2 Kings 20:11 And Isaiah the prophet cried unto the LORD: and he brought the shadow ten degrees backward, by which it had gone down in the dial of Ahaz.

Isaiah 38:8 Behold, I will bring again the shadow of the degrees, which is gone down in the sun dial of Ahaz, ten degrees backward. So the sun returned ten degrees, by which degrees it was gone down.

I hope this forum will be used by more to ask sincere questions, and not just bait people into arguments.

Thank you for your comment and I truly agree that this could make this site a lot better if as Christians we concentrate on using this as a site to share what is good about our beliefs. Thank you for this post.

Joshua 10: 13-14 talks about the sun standing still
13 So the sun stood still,
and the moon stopped,
till the nation avenged itself on [b] its enemies,
as it is written in the Book of Jashar.
The sun stopped in the middle of the sky and delayed going down about a full day. 14 There has never been a day like it before or since, a day when the LORD listened to a man. Surely the LORD was fighting for Israel!

But I don't see any instance in the bible when the day actually went backwards, so hopefully someone else will come up with that answer.

You know this isn't just for Christians. There are many other religions and spiritual paths out there. I mean if it was called Christians only then that would be one thing but it isn't is it? That being said, it would be nice if you all could talk about your bible more instead of trying to preach to everyone that isn't a Christian and telling them how they are going to Hell. Maybe if you also stopped trying to convert everyone then you would be able to concentrate more on the bible. Talking about it would inspire more questions, and better ones, than condeming people and trying to shove Christianity down peoples throats.
Since you have sent me a message and blocked me from sending you a comment I will add it here. You didn't just send this to Christians. You sent this to everyone when you used Yahoo Answers. You even say in your question "All other users, I don't mean to offend you. I just want my opportunity to inspire other Christians to get into the Bible." You say that I should "only speak when spoken to" but I can speak at any time. You see this is a free country. You spoke your nonesense to me and now I will give you some intellegence and hope that maybe you will learn. If you would have read past the first part you would have realized that I agreed with you. That I think you should be talking more about the bible. Yes I say that you Christians should stop forcing your religion on us. I do think that. If you just talk about the bible and what it says you will help people see your ways a little more clearly. If you stop telling people that they are going to hell and that they are wrong if they don't believe like you Christians do then maybe people will take you a little more seriously. A letter like you sent to my 360 was uncalled for and not Christian like at all. It makes me wonder if you are a Christian at all actually. And if you are a Christian then it makes me even happier that I am not a Christian any more.

It's also fodder for the atheists and agnostics. It does defy the laws of natural order.

I'm sure God can make it happen if God wanted to.

Many theologians agree that no one knows what a "day" means to God, so it might be possible that God gave man a taste of God's time frame.

Once again, it's fodder for the Anti people who then use these concepts to relegate religion to the Sci-Fi realm, however Sci-Fi tends to eventually become Sci-Fact!

Given General relativity, Einstein established the concept that if a space ship travelled at 75% of the speed of light containing one twin, with the other on Earth and they ship went to a distant star, upon returning the Earth bound twin would be near death while the space ship twin would be only a few years older than when they left on the flight.

That is a slowing of time.

So theortical science says it is possible. It is possible to alter time factors.

Biblical experts will argue if it's a symolic metaphor rather than a literal event.

At Isaiah 38:7-8: "7 And this is the sign to you from the LORD, that the LORD will do this thing which He has spoken: 8 Behold, I will bring the shadow on the sundial, which has gone down with the sun on the sundial of Ahaz, ten degrees backward.” So the sun returned ten degrees on the dial by which it had gone down."

Peace.

2 kings 20:
8 And Hezekiah said to Isaiah,"What is the sign that the LORD will heal me, and that I shall go up to the house of the LORD the third day?"
9 Then Isaiah said,"This is the sign to you from the LORD, that the LORD will do the thing which He has spoken: shall the shadow go forward ten degrees or go backward ten degrees?"
10 And Hezekiah answered, "It is an easy thing for the shadow to go down ten degrees; no, but let the shadow go backward ten degrees."
11 So Isaiah the prophet cried out to the LORD, and He brought the shadow ten degrees backward, by which it had gone down on the sundial of Ahaz.

Not time moving backwards ... sun standing still.

Joshua 10:13 And the sun stood still, and the moon stayed, until the people had avenged themselves upon their enemies. [Is] not this written in the book of Jasher? So the sun stood still in the midst of heaven, and hasted not to go down about a whole day.

Joshua 10:14 And there was no day like that before it or after it, that the LORD hearkened unto the voice of a man: for the LORD fought for Israel.

That's a good question... actually, I'm going to have to do some research into this. You've got me curious!

On the topic of being upset about all the other questions and answers I find here, I agree, and I think it would be nice if they could break down the questions into a specific sub-category like 'Religion... Christian... theological discussion', where only valid, friendly discussion could take place (and Yahoo would actually need to MODERATE the group, to filter out the garbage.)

Maybe someday...

My belief is as much emotion and my interpretation as what I find in the bible. Personally, as a Christian, I believe that as long as I am a good person, that I help those less fortunate when I can, if I don't cheat, steal or lie, if I treat others like I want to be treated.. then I do not need to know every detail of the bible.. that I do not need to go to church.. that I do not need to live a life of servitude. I believe in God and that he created the heavens and the earth. I believe that Jesus died for the benefit of all mankind. I believe that we make our own bed. I believe that if I follow some simple rules, which all people no matter what religion they are should follow.. then I will be welcomed into the kingdom of heaven.

Knowing the bible is not going to accomplish that for me.

Isaiah 38-8

Not that this answer has anything to do with saving souls!

Behold, I will bring again the shadow of the degrees, which is gone down in the sun dial of Ahaz, ten degrees backward. So the sun returned ten degrees by which degrees it was gone down.
