My friend is leaving for Iraq in November and his girlfreind just dumped him. He's going to be gone for a year and he's upset that he's going to miss everything plus he's bummed out that he doesn't have anyone waiting on him. I was thinking about celebrating all of the holidays with him during one weekend, but I just don't know what to do. I need help any suggestions would be helpful.

write down a list of what he likes much , the places he prefers to go, and the people who raelly care a bout him, then just go on:
a special party,
a freinds dinner,
a gift box ( let this includes the silly normal thing that he used to have or use like: tooth paste , bread , drink, T-shirt , ..)
haya

Just assure him that U'll write 2 him in Iraq & do it!
Stay in touch, give him a reason 2 come home, safe & sound.
Keep him cheerful & try 2 avoid talking about U'll B doing in a few weeks, months or even years time, coz that won't help him at all.
All the holidays in 1 weekend sounds Perfect.
GO 4 IT!

the thing that i have been told was great was mail call. everyday, when he gets somthing, regardless of if it's a package or just a little envelope with a note or newspaper clipping in it don't let him be walking back to his bunk empty handed. get other friends to do it as well. save up a bunch of stamps right now!!

That sounds like fun, get his friends together to also show him a good time and take him to his favourite places. If you or one of your friends has a crush on him tell him about it to boost his confidence about the breakup and tell him you can expore the feelings when he comes back.

Actually that right there is a good idea. And even though you two aren't seeing each other let him know in someway that you'll be waiting for him when he returns.

That's really sweet and it's a different idea. I don't know what exactly you should do, but i wanted to tell you how nice and special i think that is. I'm sure he would love whatever you do.
