If honesty is what we look for in a mate what are people thinking when they lie about how they look to others?

When asked what quality we look for in a friend and mate almost 100% of the people answer with "honesty" and "intelligence", yet so many people online go out of their way to decive others about their looks.

Don't they realize if they eventually meet each other then they will have lost a friend because who they are on the inside is a liar and manipulator?

I agree with you 100% Yesterday a guy asked why doesn't anyone use the plus size avatars and I told him "I do". I'm not fat but I'm not skinny like the avatars. I don't believe in deceiving people. Once a liar always a liar.

Not necessarily.....If you post a pic that isnt of you, and someone meets you, then decides upon meeting you that you werent what they wanted, i think that the person that meets you needs to have the common sense to look inside and meet the person you truely are.....just because in someones opinion you arent what they wanted on the outside, it doesnt mean that you arent beautiful on the inside.... Bear in mind, many people do not have access to scanners to put pics of themselves online...and so have to find....avatars of other people.. This image they project is one of how they would like to look, not necessarily how they do acctually look.

This is my real pic by the way - professional shot, i dont acctually look like that right now, it maybe beautiful, and some may not agree that my current state is as quite as good, it doesnt mean im not a beautiful person on the inside.......

ppl who do that r not looking for friends but a time pass of sorts jjust as a internet buddy. if they were looking for a true friend they wouldnt lie what is the use of lieing they cant see u anyway atleast until u get to know each other better. some ppl just have such low self esteem that they need to lie. crazy ppl crazy lies.

I am short fat (I like to think "stocky") and bald BUT women dig me because of my sensual nature and great personality.... LOL --At least I think they do....

Anyway people that lie about looks will lie about other things avoid them like the plague. They have little regard for you or themselves if they lie!

Yes, I agree. If you are unsure of what people will think of you because or your looks, than you have no self-esteem and shouldn't be looking to date anyway. You need to get counseling to build up your self esteem and then people will want to be around you.

yes true. i never understood why people do that. maybe its just a temperary dream or fantasy of going thru the process of someone meeting them. they are insecure in themselves and are afraid of rejection. so they go about it this way to hope maybe the person they lied to will like them anyway. maybe they have bad skills in recognizing things and how to desribe it. me personally hate when that happens.

if you are so ugly that you have to put up a pic of someone else...then I do not think u deserve to have any friends anyways...there is no reason for ugliness anymore...there are too many products, surgeries,...etc. Get lives people...

this is why i am working on a reverse CAM that will allow you to look through someone else's computer screen to see who is actually typing... I think it will be a hit

i always say i'm bald fat and ugly i can't see any reason to lie but 20 years ago i was slim goodlooking and had hair
