It's the stick and carrot approach.

Religions use "The Wrath of God", "Fear of God", "Hell", and such as the stick. They use "Love of God", "Repentance", and "Heaven" as the carrot. It's a common technique.

You have to rely on such tactics when you don't have facts to back up your claims.

If "yours" is a loving God?

This makes me think that you don't believe in God and the reason for this being that you would see fear as being one of God's attributes?

God is the best in all things, I cannot determine what God is or what he is not but he is the all knwoing so if I have done wrong then I am ashamed of what I have done wrong, maybe this triggers a fear for some people?

But each has their own path to God so don't focus on fear because that is not the point of faith it's larger that one emotion.

Who said believers of God fear God. Believers and not religious people fear God by worshiping him and loving Him because He is a loving God. When I fear God, I give God a holy reverence to His awesome personality. I don't fear God because He would punish me if I don't give him my respect and worship. No I fear Him because He is worthy to be greatly respected, and honored, and praised and glorified. In that manner we fear God. If I meet some one like Bush, I might fear him and be careful not to approach him to shake hand with him. But if I meet Jesus Christ, I would approach Him with great joy and He would not mind if I show him my love and my great respect because He is my God and He loves so much that I would not be stopped by any one if I want to shake hand with Him or hug him or kiss Him or even bow down and worship Him. He would appreciate my action towards Him and I would be most likely rewarded for my love to Him.

I do not fear God. As any child fears the puinshment of their parents for not following the rules so do I fear the consequences of not following the rules of my heavenly Father. I love God and I am thankful for all He has done for myself and my family and others I know. I pray to him to help even more people to come to Him and accept the love and forgiveness that He offers to us all.

The word "fear" also means "respect or reverence." We fear God, not because we think He'll strike us down in a moment, but by giving Him the reverence He is due as the Creator of all.

That's a bad translation of the word. When it says fear the lord, it's actually better translated, hold the Lord in Reverential Awe. The concept of fear is not to be afraid, but rather to understand power. You know if he wanted he can smite you. But that's what makes him a loving God, he doesn't.

did you fear your dad when you was a kid? Maybe after you threw that baseball threw the window? Why did you fear your dad? You knew that he was going to get mad and beat your butt, didn't you? And you knew that he would be justified in doing so, didn't you?

That is the same way we love and fear God, we know that he loves us, but the things we have done to him we also know will make him mad.

It's not fear in the terms we define fear, but rather fear as in to hold in a proper level of awe.
