It's all how you want to interpet it. Generally most people require some sort of proof to interpret something as literal truth however, and most the evidence contradicts the story of creation. At least if you take it in the literal sense.
But how can the earth be created in 7 days if there was no setting sun to clock the time by? Could the concept of "7 days" actually mean much more time than we percieve it?

Yes, the biblical story of creation can be taken literal. Be aware of something though. (Amongst other things). A day and a night may not be a 24 hour period. God defines night and day differently in Genesis 1. Further, I noticed that someone commented about the sun created on day 4. (Obvious question; so where did the light come from on Days 1-3). Recall, Jesus said he was the light of the world (tests escapes me at the moment), and was present in the beginning (John1).

i've always believed that it all pretains to faith. I love the stories from the Bible and it is wonderfully pact with great messages of how to live a fullfilling life. But we also have to realize that the Bible was written and translated by people. There is a good chance that over the centuries things have been miss quoted and translated wrong. even the writters of the Bible were only messengers of the words God inspired in them. if I send someone to give another person a message for me, their is no guarentee that it is going to be delivered in the exact words that I meant to be heard. I don't believe or disbelieve the literalness of the Bible. I just believe that it is a great instruction book for life and just take it as it is.

Muslims need and internal revolution similar to what Christianity went through with the 16th century protestant reformation.
And of course, you can take the story of creation literally. Many do. Just go south to Bible Belt US and you'll see.

Bush and the NeoCons have followed the Nazi playbook, step-by using-step - using a tragedy to droop civil rights, telling the large lie and repeating it until eventually the persons assume it, jailing and torturing adult men and women devoid of due procedure or get excellent of entry to to information, locking finished households up in detention centers built by using technique of position of beginning safe practices in basic terms because of very reality they are suspected - not validated - to be in the country illegally, spying on human beings on a good scale devoid of warrants, confining and arresting non violent protesters. they have filled the dept of Justice with Bush cronies that spend more beneficial time seeking to get around the regulation than imposing it. Bush lies to Congress and ignores their subpoenas. i ought to bypass on. And all of it truly is made practicable because Bush pretends to be a Christian, and says the right concerns to make the uneducated and gullible Christian the ideal decision imagine that he will provide them a theocracy. by using the point they comprehend they have been lied to, comparable to the relax human beings, it will be too previous due. on the least Europe had the U.S. to assist them strive against the Anschluss. who's going to assist the u . s .? no one, traditionally.
