The only reason for you to start on the medicine must be on somebody`s advise. I presume it to be a doctor.High BP can be very harmful eventhough there many not be any symptoms most of the time.The heaviest damage will be to the kidneys if prolonged for a long period.I know cases,where blood vessels have erupted due to high BP.Therefore, it is imperative you follow the advises of a doctor.

Yes, there is potential harm. You were prescribed the dosage for a reason and to skip meds can be dangerous. High blood pressure can be a deadly disease. Do as you were told to do by your doctor.
