It is the area which is the oldest part of the city, originally settled by the French. Later when the Americans took over, the French people pretty much stayed in that area, while the American section grew next to it and it now called the Central Business District.

The French Quarter (there's only one) is the heart of New Orleans. Many of the best clubs and restaurants can be found there.

In French we had the Americans quarter of an a hour :
During teenager parties it's a quarter of an hour during which girls are inviting boy to dance (which is reverse normally).
I subject a french quarter could be the same during americans teenagers parties !
i guess it's obsolete nowadays with rap, r&b and so on ...
Would be fun ;)

well........it used to be the funnest place on earth. I personally haven't been since Katrina, but I hear it's hoppin again.
