I broke mine at age 12. Since then, I've also had my back go out, and have given birth. Birth: 10 (from what I know---iv'e nver been shot or stabbed or tortured...). Back out: 7. Broken collar bone: probably an 8. First, I went into shock, but was too young to know what was happening to me (wipe out on bike was the cause).
Mine was more of a crack than a break, so the doc elected to not put me in a cast/brace, which is often done. My shoulder ached horribly, to the point of passing out sometimes, for 2 weeks. Then it receded to a constant dul ache. Now it only bothers me just before it rains, when the atmospheric pressure changes.

I broke my collarbone in June.
This is what I had to wear for like more than half of the summer:

The pain was an 11!! I was like with my mouth open, out of breath, for 5 minutes, and then came the scream!!!

When I broke mine, the pain was about 10. It is supposedly one of the worst pain, and I believe that.
