{sort of his armpit} He does not appear uncomfortable and continues to run and play as usual. Is there anyway I can tell if this cyst is dangerous to his health?

I have an Old English Sheep dog and he had a lump under his chin on the right. He went on an anti-inflammatory and anti- biotic course. When he finished it came back. We could not afford the biopsy. We put him back on the same two meds figuring that we would keep him comfortable for what we thought would six months and let him go to sleep when it became severe. After 6 months we stopped the meds and he has been fine ever since. That was over ayear ago and no signs of anything returning. It wasn't cancer although it wasn't a cyst. We do not know what it was, but it is gone. Thank Heavens.

Take him to the vet, chances are it might just be a cyst that isn't dangerous to his health and the vet may suggest that ya'll don't even remove it. But then again it could be a cancerous cell and it might have to be removed. Don't mean to frighten but its what happened to my 2 dogs a few months back, 1 dogs cyst like bump wasn't cancerous, but the others was.

The best thing owuld be to take him to the vet and get it checked. Dogs can get many types of cysts or groths. They can be simple as an infection, a harmless growth, or even cancer. Its good that he appears healthy, and is playing, etc. But it is still important to get a vet to check it out, just to be on the safe side.

Only a vet can make that determination. They will have to remove the cyst and biopsy it to see if it's just a fatty cyst or a cancer. The sooner the better

Make yourself feel better by calling your vet, and having your dog checked out. My dog - husky/shepherd, has a lump just below her rib cage, and a smaller one on her hind leg.. these are ust fatty tissue, or when opened, may look like a huge pimple, with thick white/cream ooze.. I had the one on my toy poodle removed, as it was beginning to expand to beneath his armpit, and made his running a bit difficult. The ones on my dogs are nothing to worry about, thankfully..just came as they grew older.. I do watch for signs of their growing.. or any discomfort in my dogs.
Sometimes, the vet will say if it doesn't hurt the dog, leave them be.. maybe they will add, that if it bothers you, they will be removed. They look 'wrong'.. but don't cut you dog unnecessarily.

the only sure way is to allow a vet to see it and make a diagnosis .
it may be a cyst,
if it is benign fine
but if they find it is cancerous,
the sooner treatment is started the better
To just watch for further symptoms to appear
can be risky, so get veterinary advice ASAP .

Take him to the vet and have them check it out. Much of the time cysts are able to be popped.

He needs to be taken to a vet. The vet will need to examine it to see if it is indeed a cyst or possibly something more malignant.

Do not hesitate to take your pet to the vet or try to diagnose it yourself. Please leave that to the professionals.

The only way to be certain is to take him to the vet. It could be cancer. Dogs get cancer too. My aunt had a shi-tzu dog who had a lump and it was cancer. She died, cuz they found out too late.

See the vet now!
