.. sort out their own political and financial problems and make something worthwhile for themselves, instead of leeching on others. Do they think that we have been given what we have got? Britain has been built up over many generations of hard working people, many of whom saw little return for their efforts! It would be bad enough if they were decent people, but from what I've seen, and I've seen plenty, all we are getting are the dregs of their social structures!

Socialism always runs out of options to sustain itself. Once it has consumed its own body it must start consuming others.

Yes you will not be very popular with the question in some some quarters. We have always allowed people to move into this country. We have offered support and assistance to many. However the last 10 years Blair has had some idea that agreeing with everything Europe decides is good for the UK. He knows that 89% of UK citizens want out of Europe. Being in has led to the position you mention. Uk residents have gone the other way to France, Spain and some European countries. The problem is Blair has not the backbone or the guts to say sorry this stops. With 3-4 million unemployed they cannot get away with using that as a reason for ever. It has to stop or there will be anarchy before too long.

'Many generations of hard working people', that would include the thousands of Asians from the Indian sub-continent brought to the UK in 20's & 30's to work in textile mills because there were not enough local workers. Or the thousands from the Carribbean in the 50's & 60's to work in the UK Health & Transport systems. In both cases the UK Govt of the time encouraged them to come.

As for 'leeching on others', as a tax payer the only ones I see leeching my tax and NI contributions are white UK born generally wear tracksuits adorn themselves in lotsa gold dont bother with contraception and see having a baby before leaving school as a career move "Ya get an 'ouse and lots of benefits". The majority of East Europeans I have met are working, most in jobs that a young Brit would not dream of taking, too much hard work involved, paying taxes and NI. Whilst paying NI contributions they are shoring up our State pension and they will more than likely not be drawing on it when they retire. Whilst here in the UK they are buying consumer and consumable goods so no doubt keeping interest rates down. For years in the construction Industry Brits have gone to Germany, Saudi or Spain to work because the pay has been better than here, go over there work your bollox off for a couple of years come back with a wad, so why cant East Europeans do the same using the UK?

'Do they think that we have been given what we have got?' There are now far too many people born & bred in the UK who have absolutely no concept of a work ethic and find the idea of working for a living as insane "Why take that job I'm better off on the dole and benefits." This philosophy is already being passed onto the next generation as well as all the other social problems that come with the belief the State should be responsible for the individual instead of the individual being responsible for their own lives and actions. Too many people now expect and demand that they are given what others have got and what the adverts say we should have without having to actually work for it.

We have always been thought of as having streets paved with gold by all foriengers, that is the main reason why the majority of them want to be here. Sadly we keep up that theory by supplying them with housing, income support and free health care. If we in this country attempt to do the same in their country what will we get, nothing!!!!. There seems to be an awful lot of british people now buying up properties in the very countries where these people have come from and i suppose in time they will follow us back to what was theirs in the first place to see what we can offer them there, as ther will be nothing left in this country .

Complete nonsense.

The new migrants are providing a valuable economic service to this country through their filling the gaps of our labour market that our own population lack the will to fill.

The vast majority are in employment and contributing taxes to the Treasury, which cannot be said of the 1.68 million unemployed British who do not do so.

As for them being dregs, I would far prefer the current migrants to most of our indigenous population.

They come to ours to make a better way of life. They do the work that we're too lazy to do, the econmy is better off for it as they spend most of the money they make here in this country and they don't use the educucation system as they get educated in Eastern Europe and they plan to go back before they reach old age (and don't claim pension off of the state.)

I'm getting sick of xenophobics on the answers pages.

THEY WOULDN'T LEAVE IF THEY DIDN'T WANT TO, THEY WOULDN'T LEAVE IF THEY DIDN'T HAVE TO, THEY DON'T LEAVE FOR THE SAKE OF ANNOYING YOU!!! They come because their own countries are poorer, there's not enough jobs, and they have the right to! Britain isn't a walled city! It seems Britons have no problem with Americans or Aussies, because 'They're like us!', but because Eastern Europeans are not remotely british they're out of the question!

Grow up.

most eastern europeans ive come accross have been honest and hard working, sure you get a few bad eggs but thats natural for any group. EU laws allow freedom of movement accross the EU member states, its one of the founding principles. I honestly dont see what the problem is apart from xenophobia

The poor east European countries liberated from communist chain want to get rich in a big EU community. It is not bad to build a strong Europe by unite all European countries as one entity.

"Why dont the East Europeans etc.stay in their own countries,..?"

For the same reason there are thousands of Brits living and working in other countries.

"Britain has been built up over many generations of hard working people"

Many of them immigrants.
