What should I do after cosmetology school?

I am scheduled to grad. in Feb 2007. My goal is to own a chain of hair salon and spas, and to do work in the entertainment industry. School just basically prepares you for the state board and not the real world industry so what should I do?

If you want to run a business, then you should immediately start a real school, with a degree in business management or finance.

I recommend you go to work for a salon you feel comfortable in. Learn more real life skills and perfect your people skills. Try to build your own clientele. Remember that if you work at Great Clips these people aren't likely to follow you to a high end/trendy salon. Take some business, entrepreneur, and/or finance classes. Don't let people hold you away from your dream. Write your goals down and work on things one at a time. And give yourself time. Sometimes you will find in life you might take 2 steps forward and 3 steps backwards but eventually if you have enough know-how and persistence you will make your goals your realities.

When in school majority of us have the dream of owning our own salon. U need to 1st work in salons 4 experience & c what u like & dislike about different ones & what works & what doesn't 4 them. U should also take lots of cosmetology (c.e.u.) classes 2 gain knowledge in all aspects of the industry. And as said in a previous answer u'll need education on how 2 own/run a buisness. After graduation, try to land a job in a salon to get cash and also gain experience. Try to work all aspects of the salon- business, waxing, nails, hair, etc. After then, open your own salon. If you want to work with entertainers, move to Hollywood! One of the stars might ask you to be their personal stylist.

talking as a nurse i might say circulate to cosmetology college. nursing takes compassion!!!!!!!!!!!! photograph your self in a well being facility or your new child in a well being facility with somebody dat is basically in it for the money!!!!!!!!!!!!! plus ya gotta evaluate that nursin college takes some years and particular would be so lots extra costly than cosmetology college!!! if u r no longer waiting to be hit, have your hair pulled, have all varieties of stuff flung on u, coping with pus, feces, urine and different excrements perpetually nursing isn't the alternative for u...........gl

To make a huge business line it takes time.Do u know how long it took to make the Hilton?it started out from a home to a big hotel-3.5 years!!!To do this I would recommend going to New York and go in a business!hop that helps!
