That's a difficult question. The manufacturers make many different models of running shoes specifically for different foot types. There will never be one best running shoe on the market that is comfortable for everyone!
So you have to see what kind of foot you have.
If you have a high arch:
Nike Pegasus
Asics Cumulus
Brooks Hyperion
If you have a low arch:
Adidas Supernova Support
Brooks Adrenaline
Asics 1110
If you have flat feet:
New Balance 857
Brooks Beast

I like Nike Shox. You can usually find them on sale for under $100, but they run up to around $170. They have good support, and my last pair lasted a long time, and I ran about 4 nights a week. Asics are also really good, if you get those, get the kind with gel in the sole. They run right around $100 most of the time, but again, you can get them on sale for less.
