I was on Paxil & Xanax for over a year, then discovered that my tremendous weight gain is most likely due to the paxil. So, my doc switched me to Cymbalta and I still take the xanax too. Yesterday was my first day taking Cymablata, and I laid in bed ALL day. I was so tired and naseous I could barely move. I just took it again this morning and so far so good, but just took it about 45 min ago. Does anyone know how long these side effects last?

And, has anyone had other side effects from this drug? I'm concerned about weight gain...anyone gained/lost weight while on it?

I've already checked out websites about this drug, but I wanted to hear some experiences from people who've actually taken Cymbalta.

Thanks to ALL in advance!

My doc put me on 30 mg a day for 7 days then is putting me on 60 mg a day after that...I hope I make it the full 7 days of just 30 mg...I'm feeling tired now, and I'm drinking coffee but it's not helping... Is this stuff like wellbutrin? I hated wellbutrin, it made me too dizzy and shaky.

Before anyone tells me to seek counseling, I do see my psychologist twice a month. I have cyclothymic disorder, which is a form of bi-polar.

YES - it's newer than the rest. The big deal about it, or so I have been told, is that instead of taking 4 to 5 weeks (like Zoloft) to become effective, it takes maybe 2 weeks.

the Side Effects that you are describing here, such as laying in bed all day, being tired, and so nauseous that you couldn't move, I did not have. I had a little bit of diahrrea during the first week, but that was it.

They have me on 60mg per day.

If the side effects pass, I can say that I have "Smoothed-Out" Considerably.

Also, if you are a smoker, stop smoking. This stuff makes it real easy to stop smoking.

after you have been taking it for a month or more, DO NOT STOP COLD TURKEY. Talk about feeling weird. I couldn't take it for like 2 days and it felt like my brain was bouncing around in my skull - like it was loose or something, and in addition, I was soooooo cranky.

alright

After reading your entire question I'm not sure if I will be much help. I have been taking Cymbalta for 4 wks. I too started out on 30mg. for one wk. I'm now on 60mg. I have not had any " side
effects " I am also taking Wellbutrin 150mg. If I were having your side effects I would at the very least call the Dr's. office and tell someone Perhaps the Dr. can give you some advice . Meantime
try eating some dry crackers and or drink GINGER ALE either will help with upset stomach. Good Luck ! Sure hope you feel better
soon !!!!!!!!!

All drugs have their downside. They don't CURE anything either. If you want to get healthy again, you might want to do what I did and get this book: http://www.seekwellness.com/bookstore/books/book65.htm

It cured me of nearly fatal depression and taught me a whole new way of life. The techniques of thought control I've learned have helped me through all sorts of issues including being overweight. I lost 45 pounds in just a few months employing cognitive therapy.

'Nuff said?
