I think it is the lack of acceptance and feeling of judgement that unfotunatley exists. The church and synagouges are filled with humans. They are not divine so therefore they are fallible and they judge and exclude. I am a catholic married to a reform jew and I have felt rejected by people in both the church and synagogue. Not reform rabbis or liberal priests but by ignorant members. The orthodox and conservative jews, including the rabbis, have been nothing but CRUEL and racists towards me.

I think that there are several reasons that someone would leave the church but the one that I have seen in our chuch is conviction. They say that something the preacher says gets too them so much that they won't come back. I see alot of people get in some arguments and refuse to go to the same church as the other party involved which is sad because we are supposed to be like Christ and love everyone.

Both, and sometimes the people them selves if they find the message too restrictive to their lifestyles.
