A reverse cell phone lookup service I have used is http://reversephone.toptips.org

Enter the number in the system and they will tell you a lot of informations about the phone number and the person who owns it.
If they have extra details you will have to pay for the report.
Free reverse phone lookup sites generally don't provide anything interesting. To get further information, money will have to be paid. The free searches do not provide much more than what can be found through the phone book.
The best thing is that you can get informations about anyone!!

I once had a great cordless telephone called a tele-zapper that actually did away w/ those calls. I didn't realize how good it worked until a got a new phone and the calls started coming in again. I think it was made by V-TEK.

I hate to admit it, but I had a job as a telemarketer once. You simply have to ask them to take you off of the call list. By law they have to if you ask. If you hang up on them or curse or never answer the phone, you simply get put back into the rotation for another time to call back. The calls will never stop if you are rude to a telemarketer, trust me!

Here in France, we have something called the 'Liste Rouge' or red list. It is the phone company which gives you a special phone number which no one can access except the people whom you choose to give it to. It is a free service. Maybe you could check with your telephone company if they have a similar service. We can also choose not to have our name in the phone book which also helps.

Do yourself a favour:

1- have your Phone Number unlisted.

2- do not subscribe to any magazines, tv guide or any other item that could land your name on a customer database

3 - do NOT call in to those wanna be do it yourself home study courses.

If u get these type of calls around dinnertime (they normally are)
say "hang on a minute, put the phone down on the desk or whereever it is situated & have your dinner, washup, dry the dishes, watch abit of TV then pickup the phone & say "yes, how can I help u??"
A really good way 2 stop them is to "deafen"them.
Buy a really load whistle & when they ring, blow it really hard.

It is simple, when anyone calls u at ur home, be friendly to him,and ask him to give u his house phone number to call him back, and sure he will tell u that he doesn't like anyone to call him home,so tell him ME TOO and hang the phone..i tried before and it worked :)

I got an unlisted phone number many years ago and never get them. Even still, don't give your number out to companies.
