I used to eat a lot and now I don't because my appetite isn't what it used to be because of what I did.

Here's what you should do:

First think why you want to change your diet. What is your ultimate goal? Say it's to have a great looking body. Well, think to yourself, how important is it for me to have a great looking body, what are the advantages of having one, and is it worth giving up my favorite foods to have this? Make sure you have some motivation that will make you change your diet. One of my motivation was looking at really beautiful and thin celebrities. Whenver I had the urge to eat that nice slice of creamy, triple layered chocolate pie, I would look at a magazine and see those beautiful celebrities and change my mind about the pie and say it's not worth it to eat that pie, that I will regret it later and that after eating the pie, I will be very depressed. Another thing that motivated me to really lose weight was buy some beautiful smaller clothing in advance so whenever I look at the clothes, I wish that I could wear them, therefore I don't want to eat a lot and gain weight.

Gradually taper off the fatty foods that you are eating. Since you're "addicted", you shouldn't just suddenly stop eating those foods one day. It's very difficult because you're so used to eating a lot of those kinds of foods. You should eat less and less of the fatty foods each day. You could also subsitute those fatty foods for a much less fatty food. For example, say that you're used to eating fried chicken, eat a chicken breast fillet instead. If you're used to eating hamburgers, eat a roast beef sandwiches instead, if you're eating pizzas, eat lean pockets, if you're eating cookies, swtich to granola bars or cereal & milk, if you're eating chocolate, eat chocolate flavored slim fast bars, if you're eating ice cream, eat frozen yogurt or fat free ice cream instead.

NEVER shop for grocerys while you're hungry. When you're hungry, you're not in a stable state of mind. Your hunger will drive you to buy more fatty foods than you planned to eat.

See, the reason why you're constantly craving for fatty foods is because that's what you've been eating all this time and you're so used to it. The more you eat, the bigger your appetite will be and the harder it will be to give them up. If you start eating less and less, your appetite will decrease and so will your craving for fatty foods. Me, I used to eat nothing but fast foods. I would eat hamburgers, fries, pizzas, ice cream, cookies all in one day, very often. Then as I tapered off, my appetite decreased and now, I don't crave any of those. Now I'm satisifed with just a chicken salad for lunch.

Be patient, it takes time. Just think how good your life will be if you were a thinner person. Life will be more enjoyable. After you lose all the weight that you want off, you will say that it was worth giving up the fatty foods. See, fatty foods might bring you happiness in the short run, but it will bring the opposite in the long run. Life is short and time goes by fast. Don't be those people who are overweight for the rest of their lives. Start the diet soon.

Your dad was right about needing muscles to stay in hockey, but he is wrong about you gaining more weight. At 13 3/4 and 165lbs, didn't mention your height so its hard to judge if you are proportional. Common myth fat = muscle, or turn fat into muscle, WRONG!!!
Try eating more healthier foods as candy/sweets, soda pops aren't exactly good for you!

You need to find an addiction counselor and learn about how and why you have this food compulsion and how to overcome it. The initials are CDAC for "certified drug and addiction counselor"
Muscles have nothing to do with food. Muscles come from exercise. Fat comes from food and/or lack of exercise.

You can eat lots of food as long as you make the right choices.
Eat more of the healthier foods (fruit/veggies) and lean meat and lots of them.

Also it sounds like you're at that age where we eat constantly. Just make good choices and you'll be fine.

stay away from simple carbs...eat more complex carbs. eat more proteins. sugar cravings are carb cravings. carb cravings are your body's way of saying, "i need nutrients!" eat small meals regularly. fresh fruits and vegetables.
what you're feeding your body now is only feeding the craving!
