..and the first bite pulls a full rasher from between the slices of bread!? By the way, how can anything that tastes that good, be bad for you?

bacon is bad because of the fat content

If you cook your bacon for long enough so that it becomes really crispy, and bite down hard enough, it will snap rather than tug itself out from between the bread slices.

Fat doesn't taste of much itself, but it conveys flavour better than anything else, which is why fatty food tastes better than low-fat food. A bacon sandwich doesn't have to be quite so bad for you if you cook the bacon by laying it in a dry pan with no oil or fat, and then turn on the heat - the heat will make the bacon fat melt, and it will self-lubricate so that you don't need to add extra fat. (This works better with streaky bacon than with back bacon.) If you also fry the bread in the bacon fat instead of buttering it, you haven't added any fat to the bacon butty at all but it will taste fab, as well as crisping the bread up a bit. A girlfriend taught me this, perhaps the finest sandwich known to creation.

Cut your bacon up into little strips before you put it on your bread.
I had a bacon butty at the Yorkshire Show last year, I don't know where they got their bacon from, but I have never had one as nice, before or since. Talk about "Old fashioned".

Mmm.... a bacon and egg butty with lashings of sauce is a thing of beauty. But only to be eaten in private, as it's so darn messy! (Oh, and I know they're dripping in fat, and all sorts of bad things, but they're gorgeous. I find that not giving into temptation and only having them rarely works best - they taste like heaven, then!)

Bacon sarnies are one of those things that always smell better cooking than they taste - particularly on caravan holidays on the UK coast - someone elses breakfast ALWAYS smells better than yours tastes.

I think along with your first bite/full rasher problem is one of the universal laws of life! And please, please never BUTTER the bread on a bacon sarnie. YUK!
