I don't believe Chikungunya produces any neurological complications. Headache is pretty common but it isn't associated with any deficits in function. The word Chikungunya means "bending up" which refers to the painful shivers and muscles spasms that accompany the acute viral fever. As such it is like Dengue fever which is also called "break bone" fever because of the muscle spasms.

What is unique about Chikungunya is the joint pain which can result in residual inflammatory arthritis in some patients. What predisposes one patient to get arthritis and another to not get arthritis with this viral disease is a topic of much scientific interest.
