Like you said, he is a very old dog. In human years, this dog is 91 years old.Take him to the vet, and see if anything can be done.

I too have a dog and I know about many animals very well. He is not eating as his mouth has got ulcers, and his food pipe must have shrunk so it might cause a lot of pain when swallowing food. Make sure he stays away from treats and others. Keep an eye on him every second no time to waste. Please kindly make sure he definetly keeps drinking water so that his food pipe can grow broad. If he refuses, force him to drink water. Push it through his mouth. He is too old now therefore he is not lazy but weak. in dog ages, 13 years is equal to 67 or 68 years, so make sure he does not play. he might get heart attack if he plays. A dog when it shows such kind of a behavior, it usually shows a sign of death. It is trying to warn you about his death probably. Do not panic. Do consult a doctor for this situation. To my vision, it seems really serious and a dangerous situation. I do not want to scare you but waarn you about his death. As everyone knows that the lifespan of a dog or a cat is only 13 to 14 years. Do not worry. PLEASE CONSULT A DOCTOR!!!

I believe the average age for a dog to live is around 12. Your dog is 13 so I would be extra careful in paying attention to every little abnormal thing he does. I strongly suggest visiting an animal hospital or a vet. TAKE EVERYTHING SERIOUSLY! You don't know if it's the end of the line.

Good Luck!

if you cannot afford the vet.. go to only natural pet store.com and see what they have. But I would also call your vet see if you can do a payment plan or see if they will do a price list for you and you can get the most important things done. Good luck..

You should consider putting him down. Why do you want him to suffer like that? If you love him, you will let him go. 13 yrs is a good life for a dog.

he probably has arthritis. he could be dying so i suggest taking him to the vet and im sorry to say this but there is a great chance of you having to put him down. its the best for him. dont let him suffer anymore, but if the vet says you dont have to put him down but he needs surgery, try a couple of surgeries and if you see that hes going through a lot of pain, you might have to put him down. then again he could be just sick.

He needs to be seen by your veterinarian immediately. I'm sure the ulcers are extremely painful for him and that's why he isn't eating.
