Neither. It also depends how you define safe. I think some cautious drivers are just very dozy and cause other people to have accidents by getting them wound up. I am not a cautious driver (in case you hadn't guessed) but I'm not a reckless one. I try to be polite to other drivers (don't always manage it) but I drive at max (legal) speeds. I overtake when I can. I don't hang around at traffic lights or roundabouts. Maybe that makes me a menace - but Ive never had an accident. I'm a woman.

Men and women have different brains, truley.
Men are better drivers, women cant ever make there mind up and end up making a mess of it.
I love to look at women parking, its almost as good as watching tommy cooper.
Us men are able to concentrate on things better and work things out, sometimes this makes us to confident which does cause accidents but as for driving skills men are more capable.
Women should stay in the kitchen on all fours and let us men do the driving.

I think men tend to drive faster and don't have the same 6th sense that someone is going to do something stupid. They can also be more impatient and assume everyone can react as fast as they can. ( I am generalising here) .Women generally drive more slowly and so have time to avoid accidents.

However I have to say I can be ashamed of my sex when it comes to school run driving. It never ceases to amaze me how stupid some can be. So I guess all in all either sex are as good and as bad but in different ways. Men tend to have the accidents that cost the insurance companies more.

At ages 18-28 men are the worst, probably due to testosterone. At ages 30-50 women are the worst, far too arrogant behind the wheel.

I am told statistically women have fewer accidents.
(Jasper Carrot joked they had seen thousands, cheeky beggar)
I am also told that the highest demographic for accidents is young men 17-25.

Anyone can have an accident, some people make it more likely than others.

Women generally pay less in insurance premiums, so at least the insurance companies have determined (for themselves) that women are less likely to get in an accident, i.e., they must be the safer drivers.
