SELF EXPRESSION!
In general, it seals the relationship initially and then keeps refreshing it later on. Its absence is therefore a bad omen and probably an indication of the relationship`s failure.

Specifically, depending on the purpose and stage of the relationship, it serves many purposes ranging from mere entertainment, mutual assurance, self submission, admission of emotional weakness and an expression of gratitude to ones partner. Normally, it is supposed to be a positive factor marking the climax of a true romantic love relationship and (for some men) instills a feeling of fulfillment in the relationship. In a mere erotic relationship sex is the commodity and the sustenance factor. Such a relationship collapses soon after sex is withdrawn or not satisfactorily performed.

Your mental relationship should be first. And then comes the sex. Because if your just doing it for sex, I don't see any relationship there. And IF your in love with your partner you wouldn't want to cheat.

For me and my wife it plays a secondary role, other things, like caring, loving and sharing are the most important for us, and then the sex life, we should know, we have been married for 47 years

Sex isn't thatch of a biggie, but it's sure the spices and ketchup and sauce in the dry piece of chicken us humans call a relationship. And it really does depend on your personality, i personally would like a girl to be a fantastic sex partner who is sooooo hot, but i would also like her to be capable of helping me take care of a kid and be a healthy parent.

all relationships are different and want different things, people take want they want out of a relationship to make them feel happy. relationship is about respect and trust and shud not be taken lightly or abused it is a partnership. people who are unfaithful dont no what they want so drift between wanting a single life and partner because they cant settle.

Depends on the couple and what their needs/wants are. Open marriages are becoming popular again, but they seem a bit odd.
