Because the country is founded on Christian values as defined through religious institutions that have mutilated the original Jesus story...It's NOT okay...legal ?...because not enough minds have been awakened - still too many who are believing what others tell them they ought to think about the Jesus story, instead of reading it themselves and letting their heart speak truth directly to them. I think I'm starting to hear you Bob (and Don H and Lana and others) Thanks all for shedding light on what is wrong with organized religion. I still consider myself Christian though many brothers and sisters will think I have fallen into apostasy. I will pray for you all as I know you will pray for me.

Peace and grace.

Good Christians do not promote hate.

Love Thy Neighbor
Turn the Other Cheek
etc, etc

Any belief, taken to the extreme, can be twisted into hate.

The sad truth is that the ordinary person just wants to be able to wake up in the morning, eat some breakfast, head off to a job they enjoy, come home at a respectable hour to a loving family, eat dinner, relax and spend time with the family, and go to bed to live another day.

People just want to live in peace. Basic respect for one another is all I ask--not to mention the simple right to live even if I don't espouse your beliefs.

I am Muslim but I know of no such laws in the U.S. Some of the responses you received are obviously from uneducated Christians because the first thing they do is deflect attention from their history of violence and say their facts are supported by history. I don't know what they are reading but it is on the same level as "See Spot run". If there are exemptions it is from the evil of the individual judicial officials responsible for their little part of humanity(or rather Inhumanity). So if my Christian brothers want to point this out look at the history of America when Christians were indiscriminately hanging anybody they wanted to ,wherever they wanted to with total impunity in the name of being good Christians.

Because "a few of them" think that they are the police force of the world. Or so they have assumed. I repeat again, "a few of them". Not all.

As some one here has correctly pointed out, Christ only said, love thy neighbour. He never could have adviced otherwise. He never would have said speard Christianity. I also do not know whetehr he ever used the word christianity at all.

Only because some miscreants try to spread christianity without properly understanding his real teachings, they unnecessarliy earn the ill will of a few others.

At the same time it is incorrect to generalise and blame a whole community for the mistake of a few, claming to practice the same religion of love.

Christianity doesn't promote hatred per se, although many Christians do. Like all religions, Christianity attracts lots of wackos which is hardly surprising since Christianity, like all religions, is fundamentally a from of institutionalized insanity.

Christianity doesn't promote hatred. People who claim to be Christians promote Hatred.

Christianity is a faith based in the agape love of mankind.

You parenthesis (legal) as if there is a law that has been passed to condone hatred in any form. If there is, please cite your reference.

It has been my experience that Christians are typically on the receiving end of most hate and discrimination as a group. I'm sure that is only an opinion. But it can be backed up by history. For example, because of the so called separation of church and state, Christians are not allowed to pray in publicly funded schools. But a Muslim will be allowed prayer time in the interest of religious freedom. Explain that to me in your world of Christian hate.

Your reference doesn't prove anything. I would again assert that Christianity does not promote hate. People promote hate. Just like Islam is a religion of peace, yet there are those filled with hate there as well.

Your reference is an opinion. You claimed that there is a law supporting Christian hatred. Cite the reference.

Gods laws were in effect a couple thousand years before mans laws on this subject. I speak of since Jesus came. The laws of the land are not always the same as Gods laws, as this question seems to indicate. The bible teaches us to hate sin, but love everyone. We are not to condone sin because it is politically correct to do so. God never changes and neither does His word. Man made laws change all the time, and them sometimes judges reinterpret them. Peace brother.

Hello. A christain is a person who has received the nature of GOD into his spirit, and the bible declares that GOD IS LOVE so my brother it is not POSSIBLE for a christain to promote hatred because "the love of GOD has been shed abroad in our hearts by the Holy Ghost whch is given unto us",(Romans 5:5)

what kind of hatred.(i am assuming you mean against other religion/sexual orientation...things of that nature)

As Christians we are supposed to hate sin...not the sinner. If someone claims to be Christian and exhibits hate towards another person...I would seriously wonder where their heart truly is. The bible is very specific on what sin is, and remember as Christians we are not supposed to judge other least we be judged.
We are all sinners, Jesus came to conquer sin, and heal and save us all.
as a Christian my job is to spread the Gospel of Jesus not to hate and judge others, but to help them see the error of their ways and turn to Him.

He is the Truth.

It is difficult to legislate love Bob. It is a conclusion that each of us must come to in our own time.

The idea that any response other than a loving response is ever a logical response to any situation is a form of mental illness.

It must be overcome within the mind that sees it as a possibility.

Love and blessings
don
