"...God is the one who chooses our rulers. And if we are the ones not actively involved in electing those godly men and women and if people aren’t involved in helping godly men in getting elected than we’re going to have a nation of secular laws. That’s not what our founding fathers intended and that’s certainly isn’t what God intended."

"I would limit abortion to rape and life of the mother and incest, but for my personal standpoint, I would not have an abortion for any of those cases."

"If you are not electing Christians, tried and true, under public scrutiny and pressure, if you’re not electing Christians then in essence you are going to legislate sin. They can legislate sin...whenever we legislate sin and we say abortion is permissible and we say gay unions are permissible, then average citizens who are not Christians, because they don’t know better, we are leading them astray and it’s wrong."

I should point out that Katherine Harris is a member of the U.S. House of Representatives.

She's running for the U.S. Senate.

I notice that her personal belief is that a woman should be required to die rather than have an abortion to save her life.

You forgot to point out that she is also the former Secretary of State for Florida who handed the election to Bush in 2000.

We hav to stop referring to people like Katherine Harris as the "Christian Right" and start calling them what they are: Christian Extremists.

Christians complain in this forum that agnostics and atheists are attacking them. The truth is that we are trying to defend the US from being taken over by nut like Katherine Harris. I have no problem with people being Christians (or any other religion). I do have a problem with them trying to legislate their morality. The only solice that I can take from all of this is that many of the laws that she try to pass are unconstitutional.

Ah, but which religion will protect us from, just for example, accepting a huge bribe from a defense contractor for political favors? Or which religion will legislate the morality to keep elections honest and those responsible for their impartial functioning free from political influence?

She is hardly one to speak about morality.

Fortunately, I wouldn't get too wrapped up in her craziness and transparent corruption, as even the Florida GOP has asked her not to run since she has little chance to defeat Nelson. This is a Senate seat that will be part of the diminishing Republican Senatorial majority in the next Congress.

She's a dangerous idiot. She is implying that only Christians are moral. That is pure religious bigotry. A person like this has no business being in public office.

A secular law is not an immoral law, as she implies. It is a religiously neutral law that doesn't give unfair bias to Christians.

Let's hope this bigot gets removed from office this November.

Apparently her claim that only Christians will legislate against sin is an open statement toward forcing her religious views on everyone.
I suppose it's a good thing she isn't Hebrew or she'd be trying to outlaw Ham and Sausage.
If you feel something is a "sin" then YOU shouldn't do it but don't you DARE try to force me to follow/agree with you.

She is a very dangerous idiot. She is the one who illegally purged thousands of black voters' names from the voting lists in the 2000 election. If she actually thinks that the founding fathers didn't want us to have "secular laws," she's delusional.
