Compex carbohydrates like regular potatoes and rice seem to work the best for gaining muscle. I have tried a multitude of different carbs and these have given me the best results. If you aren't seeing the results you want, try adding a few extra servings of complex carbs each day and monitor your results. Adjust as necessary.I have also tried yams and oat meal, but have found they are good for losing fat and trimming up. Avoid fruits for gaining mass as well, however, they are good for a snack if combined with a protein source. I like pasta but don't eat it much because it is a processed food.

If you meen carbohydrates, then it basicly means sugar. If you eat glucose (not the normal sugar, saccharose), then your pancreas B cells will secrete insulin. Insulin helps the adipocytes take up Glucose. This is the effect in muscles, but here insulin also has an other role: protein synthesis.
You can find glucose in grapes e.g., but you can buy it in boxes from any foodstore, just like saccharose.
