Evolution and the existence of the christian god are not incompatable. Many oppose evolution or anything else which challenges al literal interpretation of the biblical version of history. In my view an omnipotent being is certainly clever enough to set a process in place that changes with conditions and adapts.

Hello!! :o) You start off asking a very reasonable question and then immediately insult those who may not see the world exactly as you do. Why did you do that?! If I don't agree with you - my faith is 'shallow' and I'm 'failing' to accept what YOU accept? That said... I think it's possible [and I'm saying this as one who believes in Jesus] that the world AND the universe could be - not just 10,000 years old - but maybe 100,000+ years old. Who knows. I certainly don't. And if it is really really OLD - that doesn't take anything away from my faith in God. The Bible tells us that 1,000 years to US is 1 day to God. So that could mean that the world was created in 7,000 of OUR years. [which would be 7 days to God] Again - I don't know for sure. Some Christians believe in the idea of 'Earth Ages'. The 'First Earth Age' being when the dinosaurs roamed the earth. The 'Second Earth Age' being the one WE are familiar with. And the 'Third Earth Age' being the one to come. Interesting idea - if nothing else. There are far more questions than answers. And no one knows for SURE how the world and the universe came into being. This fact alone should unite us - not rip us apart. For we are ALL ignorant of such things. Craig!! :o)

Its a shame that only some christians oppose evolution because all Christians should oppose it. The reason is simple, because the Bible teaches that God created the world. Creation and evolution are not compatable teachings. If you accept evolution you openly admit that the Bible has lies in it and, right on the first page. If that is your belief, then becomming a Christian becomes almost impossible. You can't be a Christian and believe God is a liar.

Some Christians, don't even understand the Bible they are told to study from. And if they did they'll find out the Bible talks about how the universe is older than what Genesis depicts. Though the theory of evolution is incorrect, the Earth has been around millions of years before the creation of Man as the bible depicts.

You, my wayward son, are describing theistic evolution or some such thing. It's true that some Christians oppose the evolutionary theory, but do so because they either grew up with that viewpoint and never questioned it, or they don't know enough. You can take my word for this, though: living organisms are WAY too complex for any (not even the smallest part) piece of their bodies to have evolved by chance. Look up something called irreducible complexity. Summary: you don't have to believe God created the world, but it sure didn't arise by itself.

Because ppl are afraid of the unknown and when it threatens their beliefs and religion. When one cant make sense of something through their beliefs, they get angry and try to stop others from making sense of it.. cos they are afraid that the others might not follow the same beliefs anymore. But i believe that God create everything in this world for us to make sense of. For us to learn and understand why and how it happened. And if it threatens my beliefs then so be it.. Then would only i learn what is the truth in life. Isnt that what we live for? Why would one continue to live a life of ignorance just to preserve their beliefs? Does God really want his creation to be ignorant? Doesnt God provide us with a brain to think and to reason? Dont we have a freewill to know more? Evolution does exist i believe in life.. even now in our body. Human and all living things continue to adapt and improvise to the current environment. It is not difficult to observe the changes. It happen gradually but slowly through time, but evidence are there to show us. Im not saying that we come from apes.. but indeed evolution.. might not in the big way.. but in many tiny ways does happen and it just show how great God's creation is that it could somehow learn to improvise and progress itself through time. I do not believe in following a faith blindly without reasoning. One has got to reason and find out about what they believe. One who doesnt understand what they believe in is truly a lost person in life.

The main problem with evolution theory is that everything happened by chance. Think about that. The most elemental and complex structure in life is DNA. It developed by chance? It changes and mutates by chance? What gave it the ability to change by chance?
Evolution is a theory. It is at best a puerile effort to explain the unexplained.
If man evolved from apes, why are there still apes? If man evolved from single cell organism, why are there still single cell organisms.
No matter what it is in life, it happened by chance?

Because they believe (falsely) that evolution pre-supposes the non-existence of God. They don't read the actual statement about evolution that is this: "we probably all came from a common ancestor". Where does it say that there is no God in that statement? Nowhere. Some people believe the Earth is flat. Consider the source.

You answered your own question, it is a theory. Many scientific theories have been proven wrong. There was a scientific journal in the early 1800s that said if a man travel 50 miles an hour his heart would stop.
There is a definite place for science in our society. And no , all answerer's are not in the Bible. Your question alone shows you have no Bible knowledge. Don't allow science to be your God, allowing theory of fallible man erase God.
EINSTEIN SAID: "MY RELIGION CONSIST OF A HUMBLE ADMIRATION OF THE BOUNDLESS SUPERIOR SPIRIT THAT REVEALS ITSELF IN THE SMALL DETAILS WE ARE ABLE TO PERCEIVE WITH OUR FRAIL AND FEEBLE MINDS.
THE DEEPLY EMOTIONAL FEELINGS OF THE PRESENCE OF A SUPERIOR REASONING POWER THAT REVEALS ITSELF IN THE INCOMPREHENSIBLE UNIVERSE, FORMS MY IDEA OF GOD.

For me its not necessarily the time line that makes me disbelieve the Evolution Theory, its that God says that he made man ...then made woman...fully made and ready to go, not evolving from a monkey(or ape).
Creation all the way.
