No, it is unbiblical and the new age movement itself is satanic.

There is wisdom in many places, and it is ignorant to deny yourself knowledge--even in stuff you don't necessarily believe in. There are very few things out there that are 100% evil, all though many Christians (and other close-minded religous folk) may think that way.
The only way you can make a true decision about what you believe and who you are is to open your mind and look around at what is out there. If you liked the book and you found stuff in there that helped you, then by all means recommend it. If you have concerns about it, maybe tell the person that it doesn't exactly follow your belief system, but it did have some stuff that interested you.
God gives us free will, use it!

There is no such thing as the New Age. That is just typical of
man taking credit for something he didn't do. It's not the Age of
Aquarius that is opening our minds, but God.
Jesus said there is nothing we will not find out about before He
returns. We will be without excuse. Noone will be able to say he
or she didn't know any better.
The "new age", is just old information being made public. But Scripture says, "To knowledge, temperence." The Bible doesn't warn about things because they are imaginary. It warns about
them because they are real. Don't be afraid to learn. But go back
to the Scriptures to keep your balance. I have found many references in Scripture that verified what I just read in so-called
new age material.
Like a mention of the giant crystal used for war on Atlantis, Ezekiel 1:22. KJV only. Astral projection 2 Corinthians
12. Jesus said when the "eye", (third eye), is single, the body
is full of light."
But this does not mean we can now play with these things.
There are indeed "evil' spirits. Many of which are lost souls who
have not passed on, usually due to sudden and violent death,
and they are lonely, and frustrated. And if you invite them,
they will hang around you and bother you.
In Galatians it says, "Now that you have known God, why do you turn to the weak and beggarly elements. Do you again want to be in bondage?" People who think they can control the spiritual forces of this world, through astrology and witchcraft, only bind themsleves more to those things.
The Earth is getting ready to go through a major physical upheaval. And there will be serious spiritual after-effects. Those
who face it bravely will get a special reward when Christ returns.
Many will experience realities they wish they didn't. So now is
not the time to be playing around.

Yes I recommend the book very highly, although I think it is a mistake to call it new age philosophy.
It is simply a view point from a very intelligent person on the life and teachings of Jesus and the effect that they can have on those who actually follow them.
Yogananda was raised outside the box that has been constructed around the teachings of Jesus. This box that we have become so accustomed to that limits and skews the teachings of Jesus in ways that he never intended is an impediment to realizing the message of love that Brother Jesus left for us.
Proof of this is everywhere around us. All one need do is listen to all of the hateful bigoted messages that many of those who claim to be Christians espouse.
Yogananda's view of Jesus is clear and to the point without any of the old testament nonsense hanging around to add messages of hate to the loving message that Jesus left for us. Anyone getting their first glimpse of Jesus from the pages of anything that Yogananda wrote is struck by the sanity of the loving message that Jesus left for us.
If they later picked up a christian bible and read it they might think that it was some other Jesus that the bible was speaking of.

Why not? I read a lot of books that most Christians would frown on. Like Harry potter, and the books by Dan Brown. That does not alter my way of thinking, I have strong enough mind to know right from wrong. But that is not true for all Christians. depends on your weakness, mine is else ware

Why not? All of us must be open. If a person's strong in faith, why fear the book?
