Either accept him as is or let him go. There is no in between. He isn't going to change for you or anyone else. However, if you care for him you should be able to love him as is.

That is really up to you. A person you associate with is not a "fixer upper", that you mold to your specifications. You accept the person for who they are, or not associate with them any longer and move on with your life.
