Flash is a vector drawing program that allows you to create animated movies. These can be recognisable as animations in things such as banners but also in the form of a web page. Flash is one of the few technologies that allows such a significant amount of interaction and animation on a website. However, it is also very unaccessible for people with disabilities, this is a major problem as many countries, such as the UK and the US, require business websites to be accessible. The other disadvantage is that flash sites are not search engine friendly.
To learn flash you need to understand design, vector drawing (paths) and also programming (ActionScripting) - as well as creating a duplicate site that is accessible and search engine friendly.
For some years I tried to teach myself Flash but never got very far until I undertook some courses. So I would strongly recommend undertaking structure learning. My recommendation would be via the EClasses run by the Internet Webmasters Association. These are very cost effective and can be done in your own time.

You can download a 30 day free trial from their website. Then there are tons of help and tutorial sections to learn from..Theres no easy way to explain how to use it, It would be like me trying to tell you how to rebuild an engine. there are just way to many features you must work with...There are some tutorial videos on the net, but you have to pay for most of them. Anyway follow this link and download the free trial and try it out, Just be ready to spend months learning it, Actionscript alone can take weeks just to learn the basics.
