Please see the webpages for more details and images on Leprosy.
The disease is curable, but the effectiveness of the treatment is dependant on an early diagnosis. A combination of drugs must be used because the leprosy bacteria can develop resistence to antibiotics very quickly. If treatment is started early, deformities and disabilities can be prevented. To date more than eight million patients have been totally cured of leprosy.

Is it a reinfection or is it the old infection coming back? If you were properly treated the last time, this should be considered as equally treatable as the last time. If you were not properly treated before, the bacteria may be resistant to the drug of choice. Ask your doctor about this because they will have to know this for you to be treated properly.

Leprosy, or Hansen's disease is never considered "cured", it is considered either active or inactive. It can never be eliminated completely. You need to go back on the regimen that is offered and get it back under control, to avoid the nerve damage.
