Some of them can dry your hair out pretty bad. But, I have found that aloe vera gel works just like hair gel and also moisterizes.

some are some damage ur hair i suggest getting a leave in conditioner then put gel in it helps. my hair is extremly curly and thick and the conditioner has helped

for guys yes, but for ladies NO! use mose instead. gel leaves white flakes on your hair when it dry and you can't do touch ups bec. its too stiff. mose is more manageable and if you love running your fingers through your hair, wet your hand a little then run it through to reactivate mose.
