With the glut of grapes at the moment, there's some good value wines around Especially if you can get some cheap australian wine.Look unless your a connoisseur, just go by your taste. Some of the better labels(cost$100 a btle)are not very palatible.Don't be snobbish and look down on good wine because of price If it tastes good to you then it is good, regardless of price

The ebb of the recent wine boom has resulted in a glut of wine grapes across the country. Some of these grapes, especially in California, are being used for low-cost high-quality table wine. Basically there are truckloads of grapes from places like Lodi, CA, which are make great wine, but there is not enough demand for them.

The best example is the Trader Joe's $2 per bottle Charles Shaw wines have actually score reasonably well in taste tests. Not all varietals are great, but the Syrah is pretty decent table wine and it costs less the bottled water. It has all of the characteristics of the grape, so what more can you ask?

Consumer Reports did review in December 2005 and some of the less-the-$10 wine beat out the higher priced bottles.

Another good cheap alternative is Chilean wine, which is a real value still. Some Australian wine is good for the price, but it has become less of a value in recent year.

My favorite value wine is Spanish Riojas, which is fantastic and cost about $12 per bottle.

Oh, please... Trader Joe's even has very drinkable wines for $5 or less - lol (For everyday drinking... for parties and such... but wouldn't use them for nice dinners or anything...)

By the time you get to $10, you can get some really good wines, at least they don't cost more than that in Virginia! Some of my favorites are no more than $10 a bottle here... Bonny Doon Pacific Rim Riesling... Nobilo Sauvignon Blanc... J Lohr Bay Mist Riesling... Fetzer Valley Oaks Gewurztraminer... Montecillo Rioja Crianza... Concannon Petite Syrah... Duck Pond Pinot Noir... Echelon Pinot Noir... Columbia Crest Two Vines Merlot... Los Vascos Cabernet Sauvignon... Bogle Old Vines Zin... almost anything Rosemount Diamond Label or Lindeman's is very drinkable...

yes, very much so, if you don't believe it conduct your own experiment. Buy a $10 bottle of wine, say a merlot, then buy a more expensive wine and do a blind taste test, maybe with a group of friends. There are a lot of nice wines for $10 or even less.

Right now the Aussie wines are a good bargain (especially the reds). The price range is about $7. Not bad.

One kilo of grapes makes 1 bottle of wine.
One kilo of Cabernet grapes costs in my country half a Euro(Greece)
That means one bottle costs 1 Euro If I keep it 3 years,I must sell it 4 euros to be satisfied
I believe that in Argentina a kilo of grapes costs no more than 20 cents. So I think that 10 dollars is a price made by traders and not
by real producers and is not something chip

Some are really good. I usually pick up a couple (big) bottles of Fox Horn Chardonnay for around 7 bucks a piece. One bottle will get you hammered and tastes pretty darn good I might add...though the hang overs are nasty...
