You should expect to start seeing results within 6-8 weeks. By the way, swimming is a great all over exercise, works all muscle groups without putting a strain on joints. A high protein and low-fat diet will help you to see results sooner. As far as motivation goes, keep in mind that working out will help you to be healthier, stronger, and more attractive. Try writing down what exercise you've done and the amount of time you spent doing it on your calendar at the end of the day. I do that and it helps me stay on track when I don't feel like exercising. Something simple like stationary bike 1 hour, or treadmill 4 mph. Good luck!

To get and stay motivated, you are going to need a partner. Since you are 14, that is going to be difficult. It is best to have a physical person standing there motivating you. Ask you friends, family or neighbors. How about a mentor from church or community center. Even a teacher you respect. You can try dietdiscussions.com forum section for a mentor/support system.
Try to make you workout part of you everyday schedule, like brushing you teeth or taking a bath. Same time everyday. Then it becomes a habit.
If you do the program you have described and eat a low fat diet, you should see results in just a week or two.
As another motivation tip, write down you measurements now before you start and re-measure once a week.
For proof the above works: I am 40 yrs old 5' 11" 165lbs
Congratulations on wanting to stay healthy and Good luck.

If you can't get yourself motivated to follow through with your exercise plans, it simply means you haven't made having the body you desire a MUST. Until you make it a must to change your body, you will continually put fitness on the back burner and find excuses as to why your body doesn't change. I know this sound simplistic, but it is absolutely true.
We all have a list of should's. I should exerise more, I should eat better, I should do my homework, etc etc. What you need to understand is that the only things we get in life are the things we MUST have. If you want to change your body, make it a must not a should. From what I can tell, changing your body isn't really that important to you, if it was then you would have done it already.

If you follow that work out and stick to it ( run, bike, swim weekly as well as lift 3 times a week with the other cardio that you have mentioned) then you will begin to see results in about 3 weeks, and you should have the toned abdominals (6 pack) chest and arms that you're looking for in about 2 months. Don't forget that a healthy diet rich in protein is also very important when wanting to build muscle and lose fat.

You really don't have to worry too much you're 14 and still growing and maturing so chances are, as time goes on, your body will eventually develop itself well, according to your excercise and diet.
you mentioned a good excercise routine, but your forgetting half of the deal,-your diet. Just keep in mind taht if you want muscle, you have to eat foods high in the 8 essential amino acids that help tone muscle, I would reccomend Chicken, turkey, whole grains, milk, eggs and Leafy green vegetables, all these have a high leucine and iso-leucine content, and amino acid that is critical to synthesizing muscles in order to make them bigger and more toned. they also have a high Vitamin B6 content that helps your muscles last longer during excercize,
As for the excercize, stay in there and do not stop moving, every step counts, even THINKING burns off calories, did you know that? keep your body in action and don't stop until you start sweating. do high-anerobic excercising (weight-training) atleast 3-5 days a week and cardio atleast 5 days a week. when you do wights, try to do better than yourself every day, you'll see yourself getting stronger and bigger.
DON"T FORGET TO REST. without rest, your muscles cannot grow and repair themselves, push yourself too hard and all your work will fail. take a day off when you need it.
Oh and i can't stress this out enough, DRINK WATER! water is the key to all the body's functions and the more water you drink, the more power and healthier you are. try to avoid any carbonated drinks and high-sugary drinks, water is your best friend when your playing the game of fitness.
always keep in mind, the amount of work you put into your body is the same amount it will show. How bad do you want this? are you going to let that belly and pudge take control of you? NO! you are THEIR master and it's time YOU show them who's boss!
alright, stay cool, peace out and get in there and FIGHT!

Cardio exercise burns fat and weight lifting make good hard muscle. Problem is that good hard muscle weighs more than wobbly fat so although you can change your body shape you may not lose much weight doing it. that is the first lesson. The secons is that you will feel nothing for the first month except a little stiff ( NOT IN PAIN!!) then ONE DAY YOU WILL FEEL DIFFERENT. You are walking a little different and you know it is all kicking in.
That is your motivation.--- You will know when you start to feel different. But remember!!!! You may not lose much weight !!!!!! but you will definitely change your shape

Starting is the hardest part. If you do all that you say,{ too much I think}, you will see results in 2 weeks!! You're young...don't go overboard. 3 out of the 6 you mention will get you results.

Takes a good 6 - 12 weeks to notice anything. Just keep at it & sooner or later you will end up with what you desire.
If I were you I would work on my spelling & grammar!

Your exercise program sounds solid enough, you might want to try changing your diet. I gave up anything "white"(bread, sugar, potatoes,etc...) when i started my exercise program and have dropped 20 pounds in less than two months. if you stick with just exercise you should start seeing results in 4-6 weeks.
