You can look at North Korea as a prime example of how bad of an idea this would be. Religion isn't the problem. The problem is people trying to take control from God.

Trying to ban religion would get you nowhere. In fact, it would probably make the world 100 times worse times the number of religions.

Have you ever read the, "Left Behind Series?"

I recommend it, as I can relate the storyline (based on scripture) to your question.

During the series, (after the rapture), the world developes a charm for a particular person, this would be what is known as the "Antichrist." And, he was "put" in high order of what is the U.N.. Overtime, his, "order" creates a one world government, and they start on with a "one world religion." Only, that doesn't solve things. War breaks out everywhere, including nuclear weapons and many innocent people die.

Now, people before this period of time came to view Christ and receive salvation. These people had to "hide" from the one world government officials, and pretend to act as if nothing was going on. However, they knew-- and therefore, lived as they did, in hiding, to prevent from suffering from the Antichrist's orders.

Basically what it all comes down to, is that if you arn't "worshiping" this one world religion, than you are to be killed, because without everyone joining together as a one world government, there will never be peace.

The Antichrist lures people's thoughts and feelings by lying consistently, until he has acheived his objectives to carry on with ruling the world.. Understand?

So.. even if SOMEBODY or THEY (SOMEONE), such as any type of government such as the U.N. tried to slaughter all religion-- there would still, remain people throughout the world to believe in their, "higher power."

No one can prevent ANY religion from being actively practiced. Doing so would cause a war-- a large one.. Most likely what is said in scripture, large weapons (what we see as nuclear weapons) will plague the earth itself and cause the extinction or the destruction of life.

So, to answer your question, NO!! The world would NOT be a safer place.

No, the only way to ensure true Utopia would be if the majority of the earth's population could accept the religion of true peace - a religion that deals with human nature from the perspective of a loving but also righteous creator ('righteous' as in: right is right, wrong is wrong, end of story - we all feel these principles deep inside us, intuitively ... only misguided fools try to relativize this into obscurity). This true religion has been abused by humans since its inception and the misguided Catholics have used it as an excuse to rape and pillage the Middle East under the emotive codeword: 'the crusades'. The same mistakes has been made by most 'churches' - because as time progressed these institutions become more 'institutionalised' and humanized - losing the Spirit of power and peace ... which would then move on to create new churches that would once again focus on the true essence of the message: trust god enough to forgive those who harm you, trust god enough to not fear death or poverty, trust god enough and he will turn you into an instrument of peace ... away from the human selfishness and fear that we are all born with. There simply is no other way to true peace.

No, banning all religion won't work.
Its the way many people use religion to manipulate people and keep them dumb, religion and politics should be banned.
And the pope should be banned, an old gay man that manipulates half the world.
People of different religions should respect each-other and those whom still have a brain don't have any problems with other religions.
And if we could ban religion, then there still is sports, witch then also should be banned and so on.

No because drugs, prostitution, automatic weapons etc. are banned and that never stopped anybody. You must except the world you live in and change people from the inside. It all starts from upbringing. Banning religion is superficial because religion just like the car you drive or the work you do does nothing on your personality, there are good and bad people in any given religion.

No way religion is what holds communities, cultures even countries together and gives people something to hold on to when they are depressed, sad or lonely. If there was no religion the world would be more dangerous becuase people would no longer have that inrooted sense of moral right and wrong that comes of growing up in a world started through religion

No. If we forced people to give up their beliefs they would rebel. If on the other hand people naturally let go of the religion then the world would be a much safer place.

Any country that bans religion must be very strict and authorative. The kind of place where you should watch what you say and make sure not to stand out in a crowd. Think Soviet Russia or Moaist China.

Only if you really believe that anarchy is the only real freedom!
Most religions give us rules to live by and by our conscience they become self-governing.
Yes, anarchy is true freedom, but to do what? No laws to abide by so you are free to do what you want! Great idea - so let us all go and ransack, pillage and rape, after all, it would no longer be against the law because there are no laws! Does that make the world a safer place?????
