I have products from both...Both brands are of excellent quality...I have no complaints. In general, Panasonic products seem to be cheaper in price...I could afford them long before I could Sony (when I was a teenager). Go online do a comparison on them...try Comsumer's Digest. Good luck!

Ignoring all the upfront on-line research I undertook, I made 8 separate visits to the showrooms of the 'usual suspects' in UK electrical retail I was so torn between the sony & panasonic 42" offerings!! As a brands snob I wanted the Sony because I wanted a sony on my wall.. But every time I viewed the TV's in various store environments I kept getting drawn back to the simplicity if the panasonic's operation, the depth of tone / image on screen vs. the sony. After much consideration I went for the panasonic as (for me) it's a better TV to watch TV on!.. Technically the sony has a faster refresh rate plus slightly more advanced image 'in-fill' technology and technically it should therefore give a

There is no difference in quality between top brands. Sony is better design but Panasonic is brilliant technically. In the end go for the features that suit what you intend using it for. Keep it simple, you dont need all bells and whistles. Some of the best movies ever made were on hand cranked machines ,so what are you worried about? THE EQUIPMENT THESE DAYS IS SUPERB.

Sony offers user-friendly electronics as far as I know, but their price is on the high side. I don't mind paying for something that can last and of quality, even though the parts and accessories are dominated by Sony.

As long as u find the product suitable for your needs, invest in the best! Ask the salesman to recommend u some and test it out yourself. For a product like Video Cam, u dont wanna get one that spoils easily because it is cheap. Any problems, go back to Sony and they will gladly help u fix it.

Sony has a better reputation, but panasonic has been around just as long and know what they're doing. My advice is get the one you like the best and get a warranty with it. All there internal microchips come from korea or taiwan no matter which one you get.

We have a Panasonic, and I would heartily recommend it. There's nothing to choose in terms of quality between Sony and Panasonic. It depends on personal choice, and whether you want to support a company (Sony) who are intent on global domination in all markets, or one (Panasonic/Matsushita) which specialises in the market that it knows well.

There's no substitute for good optics. Carl Zeiss® Vario-Sonnar® T* lenses are used in a few Sony models. Super NightShot® Infrared System is a useful feature in low light situations.

Compare brands, specs and prices on the hottest digital camcorders to find the one that is right for you.
