Probably Belgian or Russian linen. Best quality depends on your use. A rough weave will be poor quality is you are seeking a smooth weave...personally, I like hardboard panel....if I want texture, I add it with sand and gesso. If I want smooth, I slurp on multiple layers of thinned gesso and sand between. Prices? Try ASW, Jerry's Artarama...or go to the Internet and search for linen canvas then comapre.

get some linen and stretch your own. it's the only way to know it's been done right.
