Legality actually depends on the laws of the state in which you live. In the state that I am from... only the parents or legal guardian of a child may homeschool them. Therefore, I would check on the laws of your state pertaining to homeschooling.
The following site has many valuable resources for homeschoolers and the laws that govern each state.

Check into the laws of your State. (I am assuming that you are in the U.S. --- if not, check into the laws of your Country)

An important thing that most people do not realize is that almost ANYONE can home-school with or without high academic ability of your own.
My children are all smarter than I am! They are now 23, 20, 17 and 15.
Research "Self-teaching". Check into the Robinson Curriculum.

Well how old are you? If you are in 8th grade or higher no one really teaches you. I am 15 and in 10th grade. I just grab my books do the work correct them and put them in the grade book and my mom checks it over.
