Yesterday I did some running but I went over the limit... I pushed mysef quite alot. I ran for about 88 minutes and did a series of recovery runs in the last few minutes.

Today I woke up with my legs hurtin' and I feel as if each breath of oxygen is serving me for aa shorter period than usual. When I breathe my heart beats a bit faster until I breathe again, continuously.

Do you think this will go away soon or is something wrong with my cardio-vascular system?

You could see a doctor, but I suspect it's a combination of dehydration and exhaustion. You don't really state what your normal run is, but I suspect you pushed yourself a little too much.

I remember going about 18 miles once when my normal run was about 10 miles and the next day I felt crap.

I'd write it off as exhaustion. Give yourself to the mid afternoon. If you don't feel like you are coming out of it, you might see a doctor, but basically what you are feeling is sort of normal: dehydration, too much lactic acid and exhaustion.

Good luck.

I've trained martial arts and boxing for 7 years now and through all of the grueling training sessions I've been through I've never had such a thing or seen such a thing happen.Any suggestions that tell you to consult a doctor are probably pointing you in the right direction. The pain in the legs is just microtrauma but the trouble breathing and rapid heart beat are suspect. There are several stress disorders linked to too much physical exertion which include the symptoms that you include as well as hot/cold flashes and unusually dark urine.See a doctor.
