Im always caught in this dilemma. I had on several occassions met some women who really smell good. And I'm always tempted to ask them what kind of scent they are wearing. Do you think its proper to do that?

I don't think so. I have had people ask me that, and I considered it a compliment. There have been occasions when I too wish to know what cologne someone is wearing. I usually say "excuse me, but you smell really nice. May I ask what cologne you are wearing?" I have never got a rude response from anyone. They seem to appreciate the complement, and are always kind enough to say what the cologne is.

I wouldn't consider it unethical. There are many reasons to ask the question...If you are curious on the fragrance- and like the way it smells-it could be a compliment. If the fragrance is unpleasant and distracting- someone may want to stay away from buying it or even the scent...alllergies, odor.etc

So, it depends on the reason for the ?-

I do that to people I know, because usually I'm not close enough to smell someone else's perfume that smells good to me (because if I CAN smell it, they're usually putting on way too much). I know that for people I know, I ask them if they're wearing any at all (because I'm not sure, it could be just them..) and then ask what it is. I just like complimenting people when I can, and that's one of the things I do, especially if they smell super good.

I do the same thing. I don't see anything wrong with it if it's in good meaning. If you were asking a woman what she's wearing because she stinks then that wouldn't be proper... But in the situation you are giving, it's fine. I take it as a compliment when women as me what perfume I am wearing.

Say: Mom I'm 15 now and I wanna buy some makeup from a pharmacy but I want it to all look natural is that cool with you? Make it sound subtle and casual and do it at a time when your mom is happy and she isn't buzzing in your world thinking you have school problems so you want makeup And if she says something like "oh but your so pretty without any makeup" you can "well I know I'm pretty without makeup but I just wanna try something new and see if I like it!" And if she still says no you can keep giving evidence, so etching like "but at my last sleepover we all did makeovers and I looked very pretty with some makeup on" or "My best friend thinks I"ll look great" or (if she wears makeup) "You wear makeup too don't you think I'm old enough to wear some?" Good luck and I hope you succeed!!! <3

I have had people tell me before that I smell really good and then ask what kind of perfume I wear and I take it as a compliment. I have also asked people before and never had anybody get offended so I guess it's ok.

I think it's a compliment to tell someone they smell lovely and ask what the fragrance is. That's the reason most women wear perfume - they want to smell nice and have others notice it..
If someone loves the fragrance and wants to buy and enjoy it themselves, they need to know the name, right?

Go ahead they want people to notice that they smell nice thats why they put it on. Now for some critisism. If you people wish to wear perfume or cologne please do so in moderation for people like me who are extremely allergic to it, you will find me on the floor gasping for air. I have allergy related asthma if I smell perfume with musk in it I will have an asthma atack. Go ahead and wear it but dont take a bath in it,please.

ask me!!! ask me!!! I only wear two differnt perfumes and they are both very expensive. Women find it a compliment to be asked what their perfume is. Its the same as complimenting her clothes. Of course if you hate it you can still smile and pretend and then never give it as a present to someone else
