I went through the very same thing at your age. I’m not too sure what triggered it but I pretty much gave up on everything. Just wanted to stay home from school and stare at the walls. I stayed up all night watching tv and when I did sleep I had horrible dreams. I told my parents I was “sad” and I didn’t know why and was promptly told to “snap out of it," which really wasn’t much help. Then it clicked one day that I was actually depressed. Sometimes there doesn’t need to be a reason for it at all. It can be hormones, low self-esteem, a few bad days too many. But in your case, from reading your other questions, I think it might be your home life and the way your brother treats you. I was my brothers punching bag too and know how much that can really affect your life.
I think your using your gaming as an escape from reality, which can be great in small bursts but I agree with other posters that you should try getting out and taking in some fresh air, not to mention getting some space between you and your brother. Also what I found that helped was to find a passion. Mine was writing tacky romance novels, it was an excellent outlet. If you find what your passion can be you might find a new vigour in life and a reason to get up in the morning. I really do hope things work out for you. I know how much it sucks to feel that way. And don’t worry. Big brothers can just be jerks. He will get his in the end, just keep yourself safe. Take care.

You need a major change in your life. A shrink would supposedly be best but if you are unwilling to consult an actual professional, then here goes - - - first up, a Three Day Fast - - - water only, no food no matter how much the hunger pains annoy you - - - FAST.
After fasting, a strict all natural foods diet - - - nothing processed, should try for simply fruits & Vegetables but if you cannot escape eating dead animals then try to stick to steaks and chicken broiled not fried. Your symptoms suggest a major problem in your diet. As for depression, force yourself to spend a half hour thinking only good thoughts. Lie down in a room on the floor head on pillow, near dark or completely dark, focus on a spot on the ceiling and build up a picture of a place you find comfortng; a filed, a meadow, a jungle, a small town or village. Do this for at least a half hour a day. Good Luck.

If my mom and her BF was fighting and breaking stuff and my brother was violent I would get sad when I went home also.
I would expect to have bad dreams and have problems sleeping.
There is nothing wrong with you in that way. The weight on your chest could be phenomena and you might need a prescription.
If there is some one to talk to that would be great. Like a minister or a counsel or maybe one of those hot lines. Sometimes just getting it of your chest makes things like weird dreams go away.
stay focused on what is important like school and your grades (and breaks from your brother). Make sure you are getting vegetables in your diet and no caffeine within 4 hrs of going to bed. When you can't get to sleep do this, try not to move a muscle, not a single muscle for fifteen minutes. I like to think a prayer over and over in my mind. That helps too and can't hurt.
Sometimes I have to make myself smile even when there isn't a lot to be happy about. Take care and take time to smile least once a day.

well, cecilia you just described just how i felt, when i was in junior high. you have all the symptoms of depression.
depression can be a serious illness, that can be caused by a chemical imbalance in your brain, and often triggered by some
trauma such as the death of a loved one, an accident, a failed relationship, or just the lack of one. you are at one of the most difficult times of your life, and problems are often amplified by the changes you,re going through.
the tightness in your chest, is caused by tension, which is a manifestation of the anxiety you feel. don' let anybody tell you it's all in your head-it's real and it hurts. just be assured it will go away,,,,,,,,,,,. the most important thing for you to do is to get help
immediately! if you have a problem talking to your parents, i would suggest you go to your school's guidance counselor and
ask for help. usually, the guidance counselor can make reccomendations about help that may be available in your town.
i can't stress too much how important this is. usually a combination of medication and counseling can help .
there is no "magic pill" and it usually takes time, but with the proper therapy, you can get through it, and it may prove to be just a phase, and you can go on with your life and be happy.

It may seem hard to do, but you need to get out of the house and stay off the video games and computer. Summer is ending soon, enjoy it while you can. Go for a bike ride or play some outdoor sports. Not only will the exercise boost your endorphins to help relieve some of the depression, it will help you forget about what's bothering you. Try to eat a healthy diet. Most mental problems are caused by poor nutrition.

What is happeninning to you is described as anxiety with dissociation when you feel the anxiety your body and mind are dissociating from the trauma of this. Usually this is following some serious childhood trauma and is a coping mechanism. You appear to be suffering from depression and need to go and see your gp as soon as possible and tell them your symptoms exactly as they are everyday they will be able to provide you with the correct medication and psychotherapy/counselling which you are crying out for this will alleviate your anxiety once you start getting the help you need. If you find the meds they prescribe you do not work then please do not hesitate to go back to gp and let them know as not all meds work the same on certain people.Hope this helps some.

Your symptoms do sound a lot like Clinical Depression. This isn't the same as just being sad, down, or "blue". It can be very serious. Even if that isn't what is going on with you, it is quite obvious that something is very wrong. Don't play around with this and don't wait for it to go away. And please don't listen to people who tell you you just need to "snap out of it". Get professional help as soon as is possible. Talk to your parents, a teacher, your doctor, the school nurse...anyone that can steer you in the right direction. Soon.

Put away the computer games turn off the TV.
If you are having trouble sleeping it may be that your senses are over stimulated by the video games. I used to have a hard time sleeping too, One way to get over these things is to get plenty of exercise ride a bicycle run and play I guess you are 12 or 13 yrs old so get out and play a game of basketball, baseball whatever you don't have to be a pro to have fun.
I would bet if you get enough fresh air exercise and have some fun you will stop having bad dreams and you will get enough sleep. The computer is a fun tool don't let it rule your life.

there is a medical condition called ABSENT SEISURES that can cause a person to space out. these type of seisures don't have convulsions with them. you might mention this the next time you see your doctor. please consider talking to the school nurse or counselor. if you do not have either of these at your school make an appointment to talk with your principal. maybe your mother will listen to another adult.if not maybe someone at the school will see that you get the help you need.

You have to have someone in your family or friends(aunt, uncle, teacher, etc)that you could talk to and tell them how you are feeling. Maybe if you did they could get you help. You should go to doctor or even talk to school counselor. Don't give up there is someone out there that will listen.
