No, its important, but he/she needs to know how to have fun as a child too and learn about the dangers of sex, drugs, etc.

If by education you mean the sum of all learnings obtained from both the formal and informal setting, YES. It is not simple pedagogy but the totality of human development such that mental, intellectual, physical and social development are all addressed be it within or without the school setting.
