Would you think it would be in your best interests, because, for example, it is a safety issue? If you got along with the person, would it matter?

I'd report him if he was an air traffic controller or monitoring critical systems at a nuclear power plant. Other than that as long as it doesn't affect my job or the safety of himself or others his sleeping on the job isn't my lookout.

Plus me being on Answers all day can't be worse than a power nap after lunch.

I used to work with a person who fell asleep every day after lunch. I invested in a whistle and a tiny squirt gun, and had fun alternating every day with either squirting them with a bit of water, and then looking innocent - or literally blowing the whistle, at which point she would wake up - yell "Dammit Karla!" and then get back to work.

The other thing I used to do is carefully shoot rubber bands up into the air to bounce off the ceiling tile to fall on her bouffant hairdo. At the end of the nap, it was funny to see how many rubber bands were on her head, and she didn't even know it - but everyone else in the office did! Another time I just casually placed a kleenex on top of her head while she napped away. Funny!

Seriously though - if you work in a place that operates machinery or something like that - definitely report them. Good luck with that!

I would assume that if someone fell asleep it was because they were extremely tired and I would wonder why. Up all night with a sick child or just not feeling well.
I would ask if there was anything I could do to help . I would not even consider reporting them u nless I found out they had been partying the night before and then n they should stay home and sleep it off.

I would only if it was a repeated problem and only if saftey was a concern. But First I would try to talk to the person to see whats going on. I believe in treating people as I would want to be treated.
Its very possible that person wasnt feeling well.

Depends. I would talk to the co-worker and let them know you caught them sleeping, let him/her know you probably weren't the only one and recommend something like going to bed early or maybe calling in "sick" to get a full days rest at home. If its habitual, then I would mention something to your supervisor. It could be that there is more to it than just sleeping on the job.

If it is a safety issue, then report if not don't. It is the work of the supervisor to notice such things.

No I would not report them. My co worker has slept on my office floor many times. I just have to be careful not to roll my chair onto her.

I would wake him up. Maybe he is working two jobs and is just tired. But the second time, I would report him.

Wake him up with a gentle touch. I'd wouldn't report it unless his not doing his job affected my job.
