For some time it was not possible to build large screen LCDs without dropouts being unacceptably high. So plasma was invented as a substitute. Unfortunately the screens tend to lose colour after a period of time where as LCDs dont.
Now you get get both types in large screen and the plasma lasts longer, you can get a 20 year warranty on some. LCD quality is much better.

Plasma and LCD technologies are still not very advanced.The rechnology has to be developed for cheaper versions.Commercial production has to pick up world over.In due course cheaper Plasma and LCD devices will become possible and make them popular.It is just like transistor revolutionin the case of radios.Plasm/LCD revolution has just started .Let us wait and see.

I don't know, but LCD lasts longer. And Plasma's only have a limited shelf life.

LCD is better quality - also plasma TVs have a tendancy to break quicker than LCD...

lcd tv's are better quality. plasma tv's dont last as long and need to be topped up with plasma

No idea but they are both rubbish if the sunlight gets on them, the best thing on the market is a rear projection screens, you can have this out in your garden and still be able to see the picture clear as day. prices start around 2,500euros. If you want more info get in touch
