I would like to express my outrage over this incident. As a muslim myself i think that what the people who held the journalists hostage shoud not have forced the journalists to convert to islam, because converting to islam, and any religion for that matter is a matter of choice.Besides, their conversion wasnt accepted unless they converted with their hearts.

I'd question whether they did so under compulsion and not voluntarily. I'd also wonder how anyone who is being held by extremists would voluntarily convert if, by virtue of the fact they were being held by extremists, they'd be getting a very negative view of the religion they supposedly converted to. Captivity and threat of death usually aren't very friendly environments in which to make such decisions.
Incidentally, I'm an ordained evangelical minister but my training and degree are in journalism, so I hope I've got a pretty good overview of both religious and journalistic mindsets. :-)

If you have ever in touch with a true muslim you will never ask this question. The journalists are free now they have their choice to follow the religion they like, but they accept Islam. All are equal in the Islamic world, be it a king or a bagger.

As a Muslim I have to say that it is against the Qur'an to force or coerce someone like that. God says in Chapter 2, verse 256 of the Qur'an : "Let there be no compulsion in religion"
It is shameful to do something force someone like this and personally I think the idiots who kidnapped them have no knowledge of Islam and no control over their own lives.
Their conversion is not acceptable since it was done under pressure and not of conviction or free will.
I'm glad they are free. When will Israel free Palestinian kids from their prisons?
Peace.

Well It's their lives not mine. If they want to follow Islam, fine by me... I dont care cause I am not them. If they want to continue to be Muslim or change back to their previous faith, I do not care either...
Personally I believe conversion without true and genuine conviction in one's heart and mind is a fraudlent insult to any religion be it Islam or Christianity or Hinduism or any other faith. In this I will agree with some of the other Muslims and Non-Muslims who affirm this truth.

They didn't convert to Islam because it did not come from their hearts, and that's what terrorists just don't understand.

fear can cause most any thing... especially when blended with responcibility to family ...if there is a such thing as justifyable homicide then what is justifiable false witness?
Even if it's part of the way we all tend to fool ourselves...

Changing under compulsion does not involve body, soul, and spirit. changing in body, souls and spirit makes everything new. You will be a new creation, transformation in character is important according to your faith.
