in the movie land of the dead the chr cholo has what appears to be a spear gun that opperates out of water and seems to fire rebar, if anyone has any suguestions on how i might accomplish something simular to this for my own enjoyment plz let me know

i know i cannot spell that is not in ? but because i cant does not make me an idiot, i am not looking to make a rail gun ive attepmted this before what it would be is more or less a inclosed crossbow

Oh, you can do it but it would be easier and more productive to concentrate on learning how to spell. First, what you are describing sounds like a mass mover or magnetic gun. Same sort of thing as the Mag-Lev trains use. Problem one and plenty is a question of energy. Unless you have a power source with an output equivalent to a small nuclear reactor that you can carry around, you are going to have a problem getting it to do much (assuming you have the funds for a research project of this type) and then there is the question of size. There are, or have been, attempts to make these as weapons and the math is a bit more than fierce much less the physical design work. It is doable and has been done but it ain't easy. Pushing the spell check button is though.

i haven't seen the movie in a long time, but it would be either a compressed air, or elastic band weapon. i would think George A. Romero took some liberties with the truth, the recoil of a weapon firring something that heavy would be painful.
if you google speargun you will about the closest you can find.

I love that movie, but, I think all it was was a cross bow, but what I wanna build is a gun like Mac Culkin used in The Good Son, that was cool!!!!
