Some people may believe we are nothing more than this physical or biologocal body.Well I want them and others to read this completely and share their views.
Normal people(wether religious or not, believer in god or not) become happy after they do a good act, even if their action can't be justified by materialistic laws , for example sacrifising one's self for another person, or to give your kidney to someone else for free.
And they will get sad in their hearts when they do something evil , even if they make a good money(that their actions are justifyable by materialistic laws) ofcourse I am talking about 'normal' people whose heart hasn't changed dramatically.
So if we read between the lines it proves there is something more than this physical world it proves reward and consequence for our actions. >>
this is a feeling so deep in our heart(deeper than one can say because they were taught it in the school when they were child), it is deep there.
Just like we love and want the beauty , we love good acts( even if they dont make sense with materialistic laws).
you know, when something is in our heart there is a response outside, if there is the hunger inside ,there is food outside. if there is the need of love inside ,there is marriage and love outside. For every natural need or tendency or feeling that we have inside our hearts ,there is a response a satisfaction outside. the response to this feeling is that there is more than
this world, there is reward and consequenses.
Things make sense.
If we admire sombody when he get killed, trying to rescue somebody else which doesnt make sense by the physical laws,it means our hearts knows that there is more than this physical world.even if some people has become unbelievers and consciously deny it while their hearts unconsciously act in according to spritual laws.
and yes when god created us he put this in our heart.
Note that I dont say non-belivers dont do good acts, some of them do,beacause the truth is in their hearts but they consciously deny it.and sometimes they act in according to spritual laws without paying attention to it.

peace to you all
a muslim friend.

This is all the bible is an interpretation of a conscience feelings . The bible wasn't meant for actual facts just an interpretation.God is an embellished story just like in mythology. The bible wasn't meant to be taken literally however like your conscience- god is good when you look for something in side to know if it is the right thing to do. this is the same as the devil how he is when humans do something bad that is what was meant by these men that wrote the bible. The bible was is too old to be taken seriously. Society has changed. People are still naive enough to believe a this old, old book as truth, when evidence doesn't exist anywhere else that any of the events happened. interpretation an not fact it is nothing more then to influence people.

Errrmmmmm...

What you write above doesn't work for me. And it certainly doesn't "prove" anything.

Speaking for myself, I don't do good or evil, right or wrong or any other such things. I simply do what I do, and leave it to others to make their silly and invariably hypocritical moral judgements about it. I derive no satisfaction from what you describe as "good acts". But by the same token, I feel no remorse at carrying out what you might describe as "evil" acts.

I don't admire anybody who gets killed trying to save somebody else, because it only means he has elected to wound the people who love him in order to spare the people who love the other fella. He has put the welfare of the family of the other man above the welfare of his own family. If Peter gets killed saving Paul, Peter's parents will mourn through the long nights and his own children will ask his mate when their father is coming home. But you can bet your bottom dollar that Paul's parents, mate and children wouldn't swap places with their peers if they could.

There is nothing glorious or honourable about that sort of thing. If anything, it is a selfish and irresponsible act. It takes a bigger and better person to watch his fellow man die in orde to remain true to his own duties and responsibilities in life; to resist immediate impulses in order to remain faithful to long term instincts.

I doubt that too many people will refer to themselves as a purely physical, biological body. Most people are aware of a non-physical consciousness - their own mind. But the dedicated nihilist believes that the mind persishes when the body does, and that death brings only oblivion and glorious finality. It is religious people alone who believe that the mind in some form or another survives death.

I don't envy those who believe in eternal life. And I don't understand those who want it. They must have a far greater resistance to disenchantment than I have.

Peace to you too, my Muslim friend :o)

when one feels hunger pain, when you feel like you are moved to tears. when we remember a bad action and it won't go away or we dream a good dream that we cannot forget. the fact of the process one goes thru to get here, not to mention the process to get out of here. or that feeling we feel for our mother, father, sibling, grands, family and friends. that feeling we get for a special somebody and the way we know how to ditinguish it, oh yeah, my friend, but for some peeps it takes a longer, more complicated trail to fully endulge all of this. that is also another gift of the Divine, the acceptance of the time rate each and every indiviual has and is allowed to have to figure this all out on their own. even if they have to go through a lifetime to find it, be it a shame and rather sad for you and i. it is of our nature and duty to help by simply embracing these people as we come across them on our path. that is it, we have not the power to judge or the time to even think of ourselves as greater in any way. we are all different, if you haven't noticed, the Divine has done this as well, to keep us in check, to see if we can pass yet another test in this big school. LOVE IS ALL THERE IS...

No, you are wrong.

Wanting to help someone is a response to wanting others to help us. We recognize ourselves in other humans.

IT HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH GOOD AND EVIL. It is a hardwired cooperative mechanism that evolved along with our species.

If we only help others out of fear of hell, it is not truly good, it is selfish. If we only avoid hurting others so we can be rewarded, it is greed.

Do you really think that the only thing standing between you and anarchy is some mythical being?

Smoke some crack and you probably will feel something too!

Research some on brain injuries. People can be drastically changed from them. Good people have turned evil. Some people have lost faith.

Feeling good or bad does not prove there is an afterlife.

Thank you.
I have tried to deny Buddhism but my soul need it and I realise that no matter how hard I am trying to reject the truth, it live in my heart. Therefore, to deny Buddha is to deny my own Buddha-nature.
Even if some people do not see that, we are not just physical bodies. In fact, some energy must exist in our bodies to make us alive. Something called life makes our heart beat and our body to breathe.
When we realise how many functions are happening in our body, we cannot admit to realise that there is some higher power, some hidden Law of the universe that works in our bodies and minds and in the same time in the world around us.
Such Law causes all phenomena to work. There is Law that controls all change of nature, our bodies and minds and we all are part of that working. To deny such Law means to suffer and not to think properly. To live according to such inner light means to live in perfect harmony with me, you and with entire world.
Therefore, eternal harmony exist and it is inside us. When we wake up to such perfect harmony, our lives has deeper meaning and our lifes work well.

I am generally a good person who will go out of my way to help others but NEVER have I made myself the one who decides what is and isn't "normal".

We get happy when we do things for other people because it's a good feeling to know that you made somebody else happy. We get sad when we do bad things, because we know that we hurt somebody.

You are right in your propositions ! There could be more to it though. Good could be done out of profound love to ONESELF and love to FELLOW BEINGS. Further there are people who are devoid of any sense of right or wrong/ good or bad. We cant explain that. Also consider the case of a mentally challenged ! Where does the good or bad come into play ?
