The planet is Fine always has been always will.
WE, on the other hand are possibly up Sh**t creek without a paddle.
People use phrases about us 'ruining the planet', 'destroying the earth' etc, but this earth continually goes through cycles of heat and cold (ice ages and desertification), volcanic activity, floods etc .Thess processes are what create the very land masses we walk upon.
Almost every species alive today could be wiped out and the planet would still eventually repopulate itself. The question is whether humans will maintain as part of that future population .
The planet is just fine. Its our position on the planet which is in doubt

The Earth is a living organism and has a knack of rebalancing itself over millions of years. There was a time when, it became over-populated by trees which caused an excess of carbon dioxide, which in turn increased temperatures. The higher temperatures eventually created conditions where global forest fires broke out, the smoke reaching high altitude and blocking the sun, thus allowing a cooling of the earth and a mini ice age. This would lead to a reduction in animal species through dwindling resources and would in a future repeat of these conditions would also affect the human race. So, the answer is yes, the earth will recover eventually but, not because of humanity, but despite it. We may survive, but with a much reduced global population.

No its not beyond repair, its good at repairing itself. Look at the hole in the ozone, latest scientific readings show it is smaller than it was 20 years ago, is this because we are putting less cfc's into the air. If we do the same with co2 will the global warming revert to something like its natural process? Good to try i think and stop doing the oposite of trying to save the plannet, and actually get real and do whats right.

Earth always can repair itself. It have time to do it.
Many glaciations where everything were destroyed and then, another bom. Many huge meteours and another non documented problems....Tiny beings can live near deep vulcanoes. Live will exist even with Human kind trying to destroy it.
Humans is just another cold. Humans are beyond repair. Their social structure, knowledge and financial order and within a complete crash.... you can choose: Super resistent bacterias or Agricultural colapse or Financial disaster or Large amount of nukes or Depleted planet or New virus or Huge sequence of Solar explosions or New Glaciation.....
Pay attention to finance. World cannot live without it; check 1929 crack and check actual international situation about foreign borders. New crash is arriving and new colapse can bring another begining.

Current state is not important. No significant sign indicate that earth is not livable now
However, Human being are capable of doing more damage to it. There are always people who send out earlier warning of all the damages, but it takes a while for other people to listen to it.
If earth is ruined forever, it is caused by people who think they are too important to listen to others.

According to very recent news - scientists now believe the earth is beginning to heal itself as the hole in the ozone layer above Antartica is not as big as it was and seems to be closing. It will still apparently take a few decades for that to happen entirely - but the process semms to have begun.
Whether this is a sign that things are improving generally is far too soon to tell.

The Earth can't be ruined forever. It will always rejuventate. Under some circumstances, it may take a million years to fix itself, like after a world wide nuclear war. The Earth will heal...hahaha, we won't.
That ofcourse until an asteroid or something hits it, or the sun finally implodes.

Three things only are required to save the planet:
o Develop cool energy alternatives and quit the use of fossil fuels.
o Create a zero growth policy for human population.
o Stop all genetically altered plants, animals and organisms.

the earth will repair itself, don't worry about this.
she had proven this a couple of times during the last million years.
we managed in the last 300 years to ruin what has taken hundred thousands of years to build. you do good in suspecting it will take the same amount of time to repair the damage.
the real question is: do you think mankind will live long enough?
Douglas Adams wrote in "Last chance to see" something like:
"Human beings, who are almost unique in having the ability to learn from the experience of others, are also remarkable for their apparent disinclination to do so."

Planet no, i shouldn't think so - YET - but human minds are certainly polluted beyond measure. We have to figure out quick how to clean up our own dusty attics, and invent a powerful vaccuum cleaner for those who won't.
humans are the only creatures who foul more than the nature can handle
