The Christians like it that way. They think its OK. The more wars and famine there are the more convinced they become that they are right and Jesus will come down and save their souls. So for them its a case of, more of the same please god cos I'm alright Jack. What they don't understand is that they already live in cloud cuckoo land

The flaws and sufferings of the world are not God's making (although the physical world itself may have been). Just the way the Founding Fathers created the United States and subsequently became subject to its immutable laws, so God may have created the Universe and been unavoidably subject to its laws (that up is the opposite of down is a kind of law, that one who oppresses is an oppressor is a kind of law). God may only be able to help us, in some mystical way, by our entreaties (prayers), and may not be able to intercede generally as we'd like because of the inability to stop, to avoid controlling, to keep from oppressing. The very freedom you cherish as an American (or citizen of another liberal democracy, etc.) is not given you by humans, but by the providence of God. Just two thousand years ago most people had to work all day just to eat; now people go for months at a stretch without any work and live a cozy life. How can we then complain that this world is so awful. God's blessings are enormous; but any glass can be viewed in its "half empty" aspect.

I believe the world was created perfect, but after the rebellion of Adam and Eve, the whole universe turned toxic and has slowly been winding down.
Secondly, have you read or understood the messages of Guns, Germs & Steel, or The Weather Makers? I believe after centuries of screwing up the environment we have created the sort of weather patterns that starve some countries of the resources they need - and then we charge them a lot of food while stealing their minerals. That is GREED and not GOD. People with more SUVs then HEARTS.
Oppps - a Christian Environmentalist! look out world!

God did a great job making the world - just look at nature and the universe and you can see that.
It is people that have done everything you described. God gave us Laws and a Messiah -- but also free will to choose how we behave. We have to stop blaming God for the gift of free will and blame ourselves for letting such atrocities continue to happen.

That is mans doing not his. There is more than enough food to feed the entire earth but most nations care very little about starving children. The unfair wages is also mans doing. They put a 'price' on what people from certain countries are 'worth'. I am not saying that any of it right, but that is just the age in which we live. It's not Gods fault that big companies are money hungry.

the answer is that the christians do not have the slightest understanding of the true nature of god, they only have a blurry outline and the other religions don't fare much better either. Most people are completely clueless about the true nature of reality...it just baffles them. To answer your question: the children starve because not enough people are helping them. People don't help because people have a dual nature. The dual nature is empathy (good) and the nature of apathy (evil). Empathy is the true nature of god, apathy is the nature of the devil. So, the reason why people starve is because we are the gods and we aren't perfect. You need to find the answers for yourself, don't take my word for it, and the answers aren't easy to find and they certainly aren't in any religious books (most of which are one step away from reading a batman comic book). I expected "thumbs down" from angry christians...get over yourself, not everyone believes your crap.

First the Bible never said "IF" God created the world it SAID He did, and God created folks with something called choice, in six days He created the world and rested on the Sabbath day [Saturday because the calanders were made during Jesus time we use now] and when mankind was made they had face to face talking with there God but when they decided to follow satan instead, death was the natural results which Jesus the second member of the God head and the one walking in the garden when adam and eve Hid themselves, the I AM He created something called salvation "if ye love me keep my commandments" and if we [you] love Him enough to keep His commandments [not suggestions] then you will love Him enough to be there if not you won't its that simple. The world was created in absolute perfection. Man in his pride rebelled against God's creation and has brought the world to it's present state by greed (how else do you account for individuals that could easily feed a third world country with their own private fortune, but do not.). Stop blaming God and do what you can to improve the world left to us by our forefathers.

I'm not religious, but I suppose if God did/does exist, then so would the afterlife. If the afterlife exists then it is fair to assume that it is infinite, and thus infinite in time. If this is case then life could not even be considered a drop in the ocean of eternity, and thus all the pain in life is not a drop in the ocean either, as it is truly fleeting. On top of this, a common religious line is that pain purifies and humbles the soul, thus making it easier to get into heaven.
It's all about tests, and how we choose to react to them - so I guess pain is a necessary component in life, as it is our reactions to it that we are judged on.
But like I said, I'm not religious - so I dunno really. ;-)

God didn't make the world of today man did. Once eating the fruit of the knowledge of good and evil, we were free to choose our path and so now you have the world of today.
