Because most people are egocentric. They think that everything revolves around them, including god.

If you're not willing to consider "traditional beliefs," then I'm not sure how you're expecting to find an answer to your question about why people would think God is personally interested in them. Just because beliefs are "traditional" doesn't mean they are wrong. For that matter, nature and God are separate entities, and while nature may be indifferent, God isn't. That's why He offers us the chance to have a personal relationship with us through His son, Jesus Christ. I'll stop here unless you grant permission for me and others who don't dismiss the Bible and other "traditional" sources of belief to actually share with you why we believe what we do.

God has a purpose for creating each and every person so naturally He would be personally interested in ALL of us.
Although we may stray, God loves us. He gave us free will because if not, all He would have would be robots. He wants us to come to Him willingly. I'm sure you can understand that. Would you want a companion that only did and said what you wanted or would you prefer to know they were doing and saying things because that's what they wanted or how they felt?
God wants us to establish a personal relationship with Him. I believe this is especially true when something happens and we are looking for our "usual" persons to talk to or seek comfort in and they are nowhere to be found. In those times, God wants us to talk to and call upon Him!
As we are personally interested in our own children, (at least most of us) so is God in us! We are His children. No matter what religion a person follows, we are His children - even if we have strayed.

Because it's comforting. I remember the first time I came to the conlusion that there was no Skybuddy watching my every move. It scared me a bit. But then I thought not being watched was a little more comforting than the thought of said Skybuddy orchestrating every event that comes to pass like so many LEGOs.

Who said anyhting about being rewarded for good deeds? And you can't ask a Christian to answer a question without the Bible, the Bible is the ttrue and living word of God. HE knew us before He formed us in the belly of our mothers. He loves us so much that every hair on our head is number. And me personally, when I was inches from going insane, from losing my mind, from commiting suicide, God reached down and saved me.

Well from your point of view I would say that..If God took all this effort to create all, allot of work if I do say so myself, and sacrificed his most precious possession so that we as Adam and Eve's children could enjoy it forever....I'd say that shows allot of care and love.
Personally from *my point of view* I would say...that I appreciate the scripture promise that says..'You are opening your hand and satisfying the desire of every living thing.' Psalms 146:16...that also shows allot of personal interest.
Romans 8:32 He who did not even spare his own Son but delivered him up for us all, why will he not also with him kindly give us all other things?
Not to mention the favors I have been shown by him, forgiveness, discipline, and work in his employ.
God rewards our Faith, or Trust in him, shown by good deeds.

you said it...nature is indifferent and God created nature...but He takes interest in us personally because of His love...He killed 2 creatures in nature in order to clothe Adam and Eve in Genesis...how personal can you get...i am not looking for "rewards" for good deeds...
