The Bible's too old to be taken seriously. Society has changed. Yet people are still naïve enough to believe a 1000+ year old book as truth, when evidence doesn't exist anywhere else that any of the events happened.

Because people need to have faith to be able to go on to believe i guess gives them strength, and people that believe in the bible are persuaded like a jury in a court room. I recon the bible is an interpretation of events by these guys that just embellished the story just like in mythology- just like in ancient Greece and Rome how they made up monsters and animals such as that half human half horse -mentor creature. The bible wasn't meant to be taken literally however like your conscience- god is good when you look for something in side to know if it is the right thing to do. this is the same as the devil how he is when humans do something bad that is what was meant by these men that wrote the bible. The bible was an interpretation an not fact it is nothing more then to influence people into believing into some bull that was made up by a guy who smoked to much marijuana for all everyone knows. Translation is a messy thing and for all we know is the bible is the Carma-Sudra and just a story behind it!!!

Oh, I don't know. Why do so many people take anything literally that has been translated?

I mean, are you positing that nothing that has been translated can be understood properly? Like, if the instructions to fill out a work application are in both English and Spanish, and it was written initially in English, that the Spanish-speaking applicant is not to take it literally? When they ask what position the person is applying for, he or she is to assume, like, they're asking what the applicant's favorite Pokemon character is?

Aren't you tired of this tired, tiresome, tiring question yet?

Because they think it is the word from God. They do not realize it was written by man who had their own ideas about what God wanted and what culture of the day held for woman.
